Tiromel LIOTHYRONINE SODIUM and/or natural desiccated thyroid hormone?

Thyroid pobems seem to run in the family - sister and niece (thyroid cancer than God treatable)

A few months ago I was finally diagnosed with T4 at 2.5 . . . after slurring words and nearly collapsing and after suffering for a very long time

Had late stage bowel cancer about 5 years ago (possibly not helped by undiagnosed hypothyroidism)

so really trying to keep on top of health matters, and am tired of waiting years/decades for help.

Have been prescribed levothyroxine (100mg one day and 75 mg the next)

and although the swelling in throat has gone down, I still feel very achy, weak and bloated.

I have read that T3 would make a difference and would like to pay for some myself from a reliable su[pplier.

Please would someone be able to let me know where I could get some? The Turkish supplier of Tiromel LIOTHYRONINE SODIUM has sold out.

I would be so grateful for some advice from a trusted source.

Also wondered if taking the natural desiccated thyroid hormone might help instead as it has both T4 and T3? What if my GP won't prescribe it? Where could I go?

Newbie to it all!

Thank you :-)

T3 will help if you have a need for it. Taking it if you don't is likely to cause problems.

First thing to do is post current results for

TSH

FT4

FT3

That will tell us if you have a conversion problem showing that T3 might help.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested - thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobulin?

Also very important for any thyroid hormone to work is optimal nutrient levels, so we also need to see current levels for

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Post your results, with their reference ranges, and members will help.

Thank you very much - I will ask GP if they can test for those. Thanks so much for advice :-)

You may not be able to get them all with your GP. With FT3 the lab makes the decision whether it is tested, and only usually done if TSH is suppressed.

NHS rarely tests TPO antibodies, almost never tests TG antibodies.

You may be lucky with the vitamins and minerals.

If you can't get them all done we have recommended labs which do home fingerprick (or venous blood draw) tests.
