You know I think about this stuff quite a lot. In the ‘old days’ doctors had access to education that many had no hope of ever achieving. Many probably got away literally with ‘murder’ because no-one knew any better. A good bedside manner can take a doctor a long way - I know, I have had the wool pulled over my eyes more times than I care to admit to.

However nowadays they don’t even need to bother with ‘a good bedside manner’, they are so protected by their system of backing up each other and cheering each other on. The patient is the least of their worries.

I am certain (possibly similar with politics) that people may start along the road to being doctors with all the best intentions but are quickly overwhelmed when they discover what medicine is really all about.

"Clinicians ranked their own assessments highest" -- yet, with thyroid disease, I've never had a palpation, nor reflex tests.
