Hi guys .. just got letter back from the new endo I went to see. It's a copy of letter get sent to gp about my blood test results. I had stopped t3 the day before seeing him. Obv he advised stop t3 but can anyone give their 2 pennies worth please? I have been on t3 for about 5 months and had started on 10 .. went up to 40 over few weeks then went hyper so dropped back to 20 then increased after few weeks to 30 where I was ok symptom wise .. as in no shakes or palpitations .. however I had felt after the first few months where I initially lost 5kg.. first time in 15 years ... that I then started putting on weight again and didn't feel as good. Had been toying with idea to then try NDT.. now obv my Vit D not good so that could contribute to not working well.. do you think I should continue with t3 with added vit D? Or try NDT? I had toyed with going back on Levo to prove in 3 months it does nothing for me as that's when I will see him again.... frustrated 🤔🤔

I think you ought to stop chopping and changing like that, and settle down to a steady dose for a while! Within the space of 5 months, you start too high with 10 mcg, go up to 40, drop down by 20 mcg in one go(!), then go up by 10, then stop completely! Your poor body must be so confused at all the jumping around, up and down.
But, of course, you don't have a knowledgeable endo to guide you. Anyone that things they can improve the situation by taking you off T3 and install a regimen of T4 only, is in the wrong job.
But, how did you manage to have a TSH of over 50 on 30 mcg T3? That doesn't make any sense. Any idea what happened?
Yes .. probably makes sense .. but I was going on someone else's advice on the t3 dosage! I was only on the t3 and that was at 30mcg a day so I don't know why I got that reading. I don't understand the figures myself .. like what does such a high reading mean ?
It means you're very hypo. But nobody could be that hypo on 30 mcg T3 a day! Were you taking biotin at the time? Did you also have your Frees tested when your TSH was that high?
I don't know whose advice you were taking about dosing your T3, but that person knows nothing about thyroid.
Sorry .. don't know how I missed responses on my post but I did .. thabks for info.. I'm going back tomorrow.. I stopped taking the Levo again as felt like crap. Been on nothing now 6 weeks!! Not optimal but feel better than on levo !!!!
OMG sitting here with my mouth open, TSH 50 on t3 i would query the test result. How is taking you off the active hormone t3 for T4 which needs to convert (which you will struggle with low Vit D) just goes to show how ignorant this dr/endo is, especially if you have tried it before with no success! He has used it as an excuse to get you off t3.
Lethargy is a problem when hypo, my thyroid was removed and i have been t3 only for 2 years and i still get really tired really quickly but dont always sleep well. T3 is not a magic cure for tiredness for me unfortunately.
If you feel up to it, i would ask the endo to explain his decision and that it just doesnt make any sense, is he just guessing, what does he expect the levo to do better than t3????? how/why does he think it will improve your lethargy? after years of being messed around, i now query what they say, ask why, you will know instinctively if he is just making it up as he goes along, if he is ask for referral to an endo of your choice who will work with you. Otherwise you need to read everything and poss self medicate, we have to be our own advocates to get good health care xx
