I’m amazed you get the results the same day ... that’s great.

It’s time for a dose increase... when are you seeing the doctor ?

This is because I went into AECU at the hospital, at the request of the consultant I now have to have bloods done at docs and wait like everyone else, my levels were very high when i first started levo...

I saw my consultant this morning whilst at the hospital and she bumped me up to 100mcg...

Clinic on the 23rd may, check levels again that day and go from there. :)

Fantastic... you should feel the increase in the next couple of weeks

Thing that is weird I never felt ill or anything prior to diagnosis anyways, after seeing some of the symptoms I have related to them however i just thought it was me... thats the way i am... 🙄🙄🙄

Fingers crossed it a noticeable "feel the difference" otherwise im still going to continue wondering why am i taking these meds...? Lol...

Out of interest

When your TSH was 150... what was your T4?

I couldn’t see that on your other posts

PaulH1986 in reply toHashi-Monster

I have no idea, all i got told is tsh was high everything else was low or very low... inc testosterone (most important to me as i like to workout and build muscle) 💪

Hmmm ... you should get a printout of your results for your own record ... you’ll find it useful going forward to track both thyroid and testosterone

Funny you say that, ive just spoken to the docs surgery who are sending them over to me now... 😂😂😂 I will be able to fill in the blanks shortly... 😀😀😀

Im actually going to start a file from today of all my blood test results to do with this so i can see the progression...

Paul

As well as keeping them in a file, put them on a spreadsheet, include Test - Result - Reference Range - Dose of Levo - Notes on how you feel - very useful to have an "at a glance" copy to see how the compare. Useful to take to the doctors and refer to if ever you need to either try to refuse a reduction or ask for an increase in dose, you'll have the evidence there and can say things like "but on that dose I had these symptoms, but on the higher dose I felt better" sort of thing. Will be useful in the future.

A great idea, thank you... I will do this... 👍

Is there a difference between TEVA levo and Activs levo?

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering in reply toPaulH1986

Paul

Many members have had awful side effects with Teva, it has recently been reformulated and is now lactose free, but I don't know what it is that has caused such problems with members. I've never taken that brand and would reject it if it was given to me, purely based on the posts here about how it's affected people. Of course, some people do get on with it.

I have taken Actavis for many years and don't want to change my brand. But there are some people who don't do well on Actavis.

Best thing to do is make sure that if your brand of Levo suits you, make sure you stick to that one brand. If you are given a different brand when when you need to add a different dose, say 100s and 50s or 25s, then again, don't accept a different brand, cut your normal tablets into halves or quarters to make up your dose.

You can see details of ingredients of all brands here thyroiduk.org/tuk/treatment... Click on the purple banner UK - SYNTHETIC LEVOTHYROXINE TABLETS

Ref my earlier blood tests last month...

Free t4 3.6 pmol/L (9 - 24)

Free t3 2.5 pmol/L (3.5 - 6.5)

TSH >150 mu/L (0.35 - 5)

Those are my original results that have led to the medication....

That’s incredible... I can’t believe you didn’t have any hypo symptoms with those levels... I would have been so ill

Have the doctors mentioned autoimmune thyroiditis? Hashimoto?

PaulH1986 profile image
PaulH1986 in reply toHashi-Monster

I might have just didnt know it, if that makes sense...

Since seeing a list of symptoms I can now relate to quite a few of them, but at the time i didnt know any of this information so carried on as normal... lol

PaulH1986 in reply toHashi-Monster

No they havent mentioned either yet although i have asked a few questions today with hazy responses...

My consultant said my thyroid was inflammed when i first presented myself, however seems to have settled now... and said that its likely the my thyroid was being attacked by my own body...

Im going to find out exactly what the problem is when i have my clinic appt, im going to on no hazy responses...

Hashi-Monster profile image
Hashi-Monster in reply toPaulH1986

So inflammation and your body attacking itself is Autoimmune Thyroiditis also know as Hashimoto

You need to ask them to test your thyroid antibodies TPOab and TGab

Hashi-Monster profile image
Hashi-Monster in reply toHashi-Monster

Hopefully you’ve got a consultant who knows all about it 🤞

PaulH1986 profile image
PaulH1986 in reply toHashi-Monster

And yes i hope so, ive been assured by another doctor i saw a month ok on first presentation that this lady is very good at what she does, very knowledgeable and will take great care of me... lets hope so...

She did however manage to swerve the aiming for TSH level of .1 question which i will plug at again next time...

Ive got them doing lots of tests on my next bloods 😂😂😂 thanks to everyone on this site... my consultant was quite shocked with some of the info i came at her with today, but agreed with all of it and is also doing some research on some of my supplements i was using prior to starting my medication...

Tests are as follows:

Full blood count

Liver function test

CA/phosphate/Alb

Free t3/t4

TSH

Ferritin

Vit B

Vit D

Folate

Should keep them busy for 5 mins... 😂

That’s a good start 👍

I was only diagnosed with Hashimoto in February so it’s still all new to me as well, but this forum is great for getting support and advice.

PaulH1986 profile image
PaulH1986 in reply toHashi-Monster

Have they managed to balance your levels yet?

And yes agreed forum is very very good for info...

Hope your starting to feel better?

It’s been a rollercoaster .... it’s all so complicated.

I’m 12 weeks into treatment and was doing quite well but I’ve just had a Hashi flare up (body attacking itself) and it set me back again... I think I’m through the worst of it so I have to stay positive that the treatment is working 🤞

PaulH1986 profile image
