Just wondered if anyone else had experienced their gp finally agreeing to test T3 only for only TSH and T4 to be tested again?
I’ve posted my lastest bloods and would appreciate any input! I’m currently having b12 injections inline with neuro guidelines but my gp isn’t entirely sure this accounts for all my symptoms and is keen to stop these despite my symptoms persisting.
My aunt and Nan both have hypo and I have around 90% of the symptoms as detailed on Thyroid Uk but getting my gp onboard seems to be proving quite difficult, am I barking up the wrong tree?
Bloods taken at 6pm shortly after b12 injection, currently taking Vit D supplements, Magnesium, Folate and B complex alongside b12 injections every other day for the past month.

I had the same problem. You have to contact the biochemist and complain. In my local area the cost of the fT3 assay is an extra 92p. The biochemists are overriding the GPs, the tail wagging the dog. If it turns out to be a lot more work for them to deny fT3 assays then they will take the lazy way out and run the test.
For a biochemist with no knowledge of my symptoms or history to deny me medical assessment is beyond mind bending to me! Particularly for 92p!! Will get onto them today to complain, thank you for the heads up!
Fortunately the nurse usually forgets to put on the form that I am on Levo so the lab does them if TSH is suppressed. Mine is always suppressed so FT3 usually tested. Of course, then I have the difficult conversation about suppressed TSH, over medication, osteoporosis, atrial fibrillation, blah, blah!
Could you have tests done privately to ensure the correct ones are done. I cannot see a result for Thyroid anti-bodies - have they been checked to rule out Hashimotos ?
Thousands on here forced to do private testing because NHS refuses to test FT3 (even if prescribed T3!) and frequently won't test TPO antibodies or especially TG antibodies
This is very interesting I’ve had a battle royal to get my FT3 tested on a regular basis because the lab decided it didn’t need doing 😡 I have Graves and am treating with long term low dose carbimazole. I made an appointment with my GP and he agreed I could have it done as long as my Endocrinologist wrote to my GP to say it needed doing. The nurse writes on my form that I have thyrotoxicosis and being treated on titrating dose of carbimazole. I pointed out that the lab don’t have the right or the expertise to deny me the information I need to manage my disease. I hope this helps
