I am a Dr P patient, although I've not seen him for a while.

He's a really great chap & certainly knows his stuff!

He came to my attention after he wrote an article about thyroid in the magazine 'What Doctors Don't Tell You'. I googled him & made an appointment to see him.

He will most certainly help you.

I don't have them, it's almost 20 years since I saw him. Google The Peatfield Clinic for Metabolic Health, you should find contact details there, and I have no idea of his current prices. I know he has been ill and in hospital recently, I don't know if he is seeing patients at the moment, but his secretary will be able to tell you.

Dr. P. Is getting on a bit now but when I saw him some years ago he was a breath of fresh air. He is knowledgeable and has a lovely sense of humour. (My husband had been complaining about my weight gain and Dr. P. called him an idiot for not being more supportive. Heehee.)

Thank you Penny. Love your reply especially as many years ago my (now ex) husband complained about my weight gain and the wonderful Dr Skinner diagnosed me with under active thyroid, made similar comments about my husband and said "you look OK to me"! I'm now in touch with Dr Peatfield and he is as lovely as everyone says 😀

I saw Dr Peatfield for the first time last Oct and had a follow up telephone consultation Dec. He is elderly in his early 80’s I believe, but a genuinely nice caring man with a sense of humour. He’s the best person I’ve seen and I trusted his view he certainly knows his stuff. Dr P and this forum have put me on the right road. Good luck.

Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield is the most EXCEPTIONAL specialist that I am privileged to have met. He has literally transformed my life......... from 2 years of terrible degenerating health (bordering on vegetative state) to now being able to return to my high profile career. This man...even the mention of his name brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.....has completely restored my health. In 2015 I was diagnosed by by NHS GP as being hypothyroid. The journey into hell began from that moment onwards. I went up and up on the dosage of Levothyroxine and got worse and worse. In addition, I began sufferering with quite severe intestinal issues....(like..I couldn't sit/bend/walk and even if I ate even just a grape, I would blow up like 9 month pregnant woman) and was told I had IBS and to go to BOOTS the chemist and buy buscopan.

I refused to accept this... I did my research... I listened to valuable advice provided on this site...I bought the book recommended by members on this site and after reading Dr Peatfields fantastic advice I began self medicating. Worried about my self medicating abilities, I contacted Dr P and met him in December last year. Within 15 minutes he had reassured me that I was not Hypothyroid at all.....I had adrenal insufficiency. 6 months on...I am almost normal. This man is my hero. If you want answers to your issues....Dr Peatfield is the expert.

do you mind me asking what you take for adrenal insufficiency.

My daughter is been treated for hypo. but I am sure her problems are more to do with adrenal insufficiency.

Hi Lucylocks

I saw Dr Peatfield who diagnosed adrenal difficulties and advised me that I needed to rectify this before medicating for hypothyroidism. He advised I take Adrenavive, which is Bovine Adrenal Cortex. Unfortunately I am allergic to pork and beef so I was unable to tolerate the Adrenavive but I am led to believe it is a successful treatment. I would suggest that you read "Your thyroid and how to keep it healthy" by Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield isbn978-1-90514-010-7. It has a very helpful chapter on the adrenal connection, complete with signs and symptoms. You can also have private tests done. My first was with Genova and I am about to test again using Medichecks.
