Can you add the reference ranges please. Your FT3 looks like it could be way over range.

Did you reduce dose after those results?

Sorry I don’t have range results are being posted out and yes I reduced meds after results and I didn’t take any ndt prior to test

I have range from an old test so presume these are the same although different labs completed test but within same country

Serum TSH (0.35 - 5.0)

Serum Free T4 (8- 22)

serum free T3 (2.63-5.69)

Ranges can vary by laboratory and most certainly vary within countries, I'm afraid.

Can you tell us exactly what you're taking and how much? 4g and 2g sounds rather unlikely. :)

I have been taking 4g thyroids but reduced this down to 2g in past few days.

Started thyroids in February of this year after coming off eltroxin 125mg and I gradually worked up to 4 grain and gelato good the hangover effect is gone

Oh, 4 grains! g usually means grams. lol

But, that was a huge reduction in one go. Especially as you don't really know what your results are because you don't have the ranges.

Did you take your Thyroid S on the morning of the test? Was the test done early morning and fasting?

Jojo887 profile image
Jojo887 in reply togreygoose

Fasting and I didn’t take any ndt I reduced ndt because I had bloods done with gp last week and she rang me to say that my liver bloods were alt at 179 range 0-35 - saw my rheumatologist on Wednesday as I’m on immune suppressing injections hence the liver bloods, and he was absolutely proving that cosentyx is not responsible for my liver and that it is the ndt, I was so upset and immediately reduced down the 4 grains to 2 grains and separate surgery rang me today giving my bloods. I had to travel 4 hrs to visit a separate dr to do the right thyroid bloods along with supporting ndt as I felt so bad on eltroxin.

Well, just because the cosentyx isn't responsible, doesn't automatically mean that the NDT is. That's totally illogical. Millions of people all round the world take NDT, and they don't all have liver problems.

But, my point was, that reducing so much in one go is more than likely going to have a negative effect on your well-being. Reductions should be done like increases - low and slow. Maximum half a grain every two weeks.

There is a lot of prejudice against NDT in the medical profession, and a lot of ignorance. Do your own research. :)

I did do my research before starting this road and as my gp wouldn’t prescribe ndt I was forced to obtain my own ndt hence the thyroids and doctor that has fantastic understanding of thyroid is probably the best in Ireland so took the plunge to visit him and once he can figure out the reason for the high t3 he will prescribe ndt for me.

The rheumatologist was definitely protecting his own self interest for sure

Oh, I think that's pretty clear, yes!

My question still remains on the numbers as they stand from your experience could you please comment on them if you get a chance-

Tsh 0.01 (0.35 - 5.0)

FT4 19.3 (8- 22)

T3 10.13 (2.63-5.69)

Your FT3 appears to be very over range. So you appear over medicated

Do you have Hashimoto's also called autoimmune thyroid disease diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

and have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested?

Low vitamins are very common and can slow up use of thyroid hormones

Jojo887 in reply toSlowDragon

Thank you SlowDragon,

No antibodies for Hashimoto and Nurse told me to stop supplements on b12 I hope to get my blood tests in post so can get back to you on that.

I have started to reduce down my ndt
