StayinAlive,

TSH 2.48 is within normal range but so is 0.35 and most patients will feel better with TSH 0.35-1.0 rather than higher. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk if you'd like to show your GP a copy of the Pulse article when you request a dose increase.

Hypothyroid patients commonly have low/deficient ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate which can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Ask your GP to test.

Ok, thanks Clutter.

Not to sound stupid, but what is ferritin?

The ferritin test is a simple blood test. High levels of ferritin can indicate an iron storage disorder, such as hemochromatosis, or a chronic disease process. Low levels of ferritin are indicative of iron deficiency, which causes anemia (a reduction in the number of red blood cells).
