Hi please could I have some advice on dosing I have just received my Nature Throid (65mg) I haven't got a pill cutter I'm not sure where to get one from ?
My History was diagnosed may 2017

FT3 5.3
TPO 450 (34)
TG Antubodies 251(115)
High Cortisol
My Results Feb 2018 increased Levo 50/75 alternate days
TSH 5.75 (this shot up again was 3 in Dec 2017)
Serum FT4 14.7 (12-22)
Serum FT3 4.3 (3.1-6.8)
Cortisol 9 am 598 (116-507) Endo says normal
I have low body temp sometimes high pulse rate I don't feel Levo has done anything much to help over several months !
Shall I start on 1/2 grain morning then 1/2 grain afternoon for 2 weeks or because of my heart palpitations shall I start 1/4 morning and afternoon ? I don't know how I'm going to break without pill cutter but hopefully will start to improve soon .
Sorry for long post I'm so nervous as got no support from Endo or my GP
Thankyou to everyone for vital advice and support 😀Kazbe

There is a selection on the link below but I found the
I have only ever taken one dose of whatever I've swallowed, i.e. levo, T3, T3/T4 or NDT. I follow the advice on Dr Lowe who stated that it is the T3 within these products which have to saturate all of our millions of T3 receptor cells and although they are absorbed quickly into the cells, the effect of that one dose lasts between one to three days.
Your stomach has to be empty, so most find taking dose as the awake with one full glass of water is fine. Others might find a bedtime dose easier, as long as you've last eaten about 2.5 hours before if you've had a heavy meal.
If you decide on bedtime dosing, you miss this if having a test next a.m. and take after test and night dose as usual.
As you were taking 50 or 75mcg levo daily, I'd suggest (and am not medically qualified) to take 1/2 NDT for two weeks and thereafter increase dose by 1/4 every two weeks until you have relief of clinical symptoms. You should take pulse/temp before beginning and if either goes too high drop to previous dose and that should be year optimum dose. I shall also give you a link which may be helpful too. When we decide to self-medicate we are a bit nervous usually but we would only have severe affects if we took too much. If we go slowly that shouldn't happen.
Im so grateful for the reassuring advice that's very detailed and helpful you really are wonderful! this information is a god send for me because I feel nervous and out of my depth 😀
Can I ask where do I buy a pill cutter from and it is ok to chop these tablets in half there not coated or anything as I might struggle with a knife !!!
Yes I take regular supplements Vit D B12 Folate probiotics for my stomach struggle with iron so have liver at least once a week and strictly gluten free
You were undermedicated on 50/75mcg to have TSH 5.75.
1 grain NDT is equivalent to 65mcg Levothyroxine.
I would start with 1 grain NDT divided into 2 doses morning and bedtime. You can increase in 1/2 grain increments at 2 week intervals until you are taking 2 grains. Hold at 2 grains for 6-8 weeks and retest before increasing further.
You can use a craft knife if you have one too instead of a pill cutter.
