I am not an expert on hypERthyroidism and taking carbimazole and how it should be adjusted but if you carry on at 40mg carbimazole daily it might lower your free Ts too much, I would have thought a reduction in your carbimazole would be a better idea.

I think you'll have to stick with 40mg for now and retest in 4 weeks. Have you been referred to an endocrinologist?

NICE CKS recommends hyperthyroid patients are referred to endocrinology for management. Ask your GP to refer you.
