Hello...i am here again for advise from you helpful people. Would be lost without this community site.
So just had loading dose of b12 because i had and still are suffering the symptoms. GP said to review in 3 month. Maybe blood tests. Is this useful ?
TSH done in january. A pharmacist from GP practice phoned monday asking if i take 75mcg why am i requesting it. Couldn't see my blood results. She probably couldn't be bothered to read my journel consultants with GP. Told to repeat TSH blood in 6 month, by a the very young gp practice pharmacist not a GP by the way. Been ordering my ferrous sulfate nobody bothered to do blood test review since starting last September.
So do i need to get b12 blood test 3 month after starting them ?
TSH in June?
Iron now or sometime this year ?
I have had to force all of my tests to be done all treatment from GPs or nothing would of been done.
B12 injections are usually at 3 month intervals. It looks like intrinsic factor is positive confirming pernicious anaemia. You can check this with healthunlocked.com/pasoc who are the experts on PA and B12 deficiency.
TSH 0.94 indicates you are probably adequately dosed so a follow up thyroid test in June should be fine. Try and persuade the practice to test FT4 too as TSH is a pituitary hormone and you need the FT4 result for a full picture.
Iron is below range and iron saturation low which indicates iron deficiency.
How much iron are you prescribed? Taking each iron tablet with 1,000mg vitamin C will aid absorption and minimise constipation.
Creatinine kinase is within range (normal).

Good evening and thankyou for replying once again.
It's hard work dealing with different GPs at surgery. The young GP agreed from symptoms and results that i needed b12. The old more experienced GP actioned it as borderline repeat in 3 month. So i conquered that hurdle. But the young GP said i wasn't anaemic. This was last month. In September the old GP begrudgingly agreed to iron tablets 1 ferrous daily after he checked results. I did take 2/3 daily then the 84 tabs ran out so struggled to get another script followed with a note to say 1 daily repeat bloods which got missed and told iron ok not anaemia when i went to duscuss in January b12 result symptoms.
I do take vit c, cod liver with low vit d, probiotic caps and selenium. Have always tried to take vitamins for years just forget some days.
I don't think the west midlands labs will test FT4 if my TSH is in range.
Had 3 TSH tests since diagnosis last june and multi goitre from a scan.
Nurse said on B12 for life which sucks as i find the injection really painful 😭Dentist is a walk in the park compared to b12. It hurt as much as a boob core biopsy. One nurse didnt hurt me so one out of 5 injections didn't hurt which is strange.
Your iron results appear to indicate iron deficiency. You can buy Ferrous Fumarate and Ferrous Fumarate without prescription. Perhaps you could take 1 x daily. Discuss with your GP or pharmacist.
No idea why some injections hurt and others don't. If it's not how the nurses administer them then PAS forum may know.
Thanks for replying for all your hard work on this site 👍great job
As you have Hashimoto's are you on strictly gluten free diet?
Gut is obviously compromised with low B12 and iron
What about folate and vitamin D levels
Both are very important
Folate you can take daily a good vitamin B complex with folate in - eg Igennus Super B complex
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
Iron takes a while to build up if I remember correctly. My iron levels were in range, but my ferritin level was low in the range. I decided to supplement with 3 months of ferrous sulphate, from lots of advice I picked up from here. I picked it up from amazon and it cost me less than £2 for 100. I wouldn’t wait for it if they are dragging it out.
I haven’t retested, but as I was already in range, I don’t think that the GP would have put me through for testing. Plus I got a diagnosis and have made an excellent recovery, with treatment (low stomach acid).
I will go back to GP when i get chance. Lost a lot of time off work wages for lots of appointments for myself and parents. I think the GP wants to retest so i will ask to test for PA. They haven't diagnosed it yet. Still feeling faint even after I've had breakfast. So it must be iron or b12 or both causing symptoms. Oh well we all have to plod on.
