I have just sent for the above swab test which they say looks at thyroid testing in a different way. There is a £60 discount this month. Just wondered if anyone else had an opinion or has tried it yet ?

BLUE HORIZON NEW DNA TEST THYROID
I'm currently dithering over whether to have it done as I have never been prescribed t3 and had heard it was not possible to get it on the NHS at the moment so not sure it is worth it or not for me but would love to know (before the end of Jan!) if anyone finds it helpful.

hi Will let you know how I get on with my results -sent swab off yesterday!
Thank you that would be helpful.
My problem is that although I don't feel well I am coping mostly and if I then find out that I have a reason for being unwell (ie the genetic test) but the medical establishment won't treat me (on past evidence I really really don't trust them) then I fear I may stop coping at all! There are only so many negative consultations I can take.
Hope you get helpful results and that someone listens to them!!
Daffers, I'm dithering as it's so expensive - have you had results back yet?! Are you 'pleased' with them, as it were - i.e. it uncovered a reason why you've been unwell? PM me, if you'd be so kind.
I totally understand and agree with what you say. I havent felt well for around 6 years now, and although we do cope, its soul destroying. And yes, I have done same, paid loads for private tests only to get the results and have them scoffed at/dismissed by the (private) endo fraternity. The best thing I EVER did which has made lots of difference to me, is to go gluten free at end November (refused to face it until then). I have Hashis of course, but its made me feel SO much better. Now I want to fight the auto immune disease and have some LDN to start (bit scared of upsetting thyroid though) in a week or two. I will let you know anyway when I get my results as I hope they may help identify the hashis trigger.
Gluten is a big one for me too. I had a very strongly positive blood test for coeliac 7 years ago but a negative biopsy so carried on eating gluten until I was really ill in 2014 and I started reacting to almost everything (asthma inhalers, carrots, various tablets, tomatoes, and so on). After struggling for months on a low (very low) salicylate and histamine diet I added gluten free and then finally caesin free too and was finally given levothyroxine (2016) and I felt a bit better for a while but I still go up and down a lot and have really bad sinus problems and good and bad days. I also addressed B12 and vitamin d with supplements which helped a bit too. There doesn't seem to be a magic bullet though. Glad gluten free is helping you. I fear that for many of us lots of things have combined to make us sick and it takes a lot of things and several years to get better and often in tiny steps!
