Hi! I'm here again. Just wanted to ask if anyone has had problems with Levothyroxine when changed to another brand. I was initially put on 25 mcg Wockhardt levothyroxine. The gp was being cautious because I am 68. After 6 weeks my tsh result went down to 5.4 from 8.8. He then increased my dose so that I was taking 25 mcg Wockhardt levothyroxine alternately with 50 mcg Actavis levothyroxine. I have been doing this for about a fortnight. Whereas I was ok with the first dosing, I have now developed joint pain (knees and hips), and enough to keep me awake at night. Does anyone know if this is likely to be caused by the Actavis component of my dose. Should I revert to 25 mcg of Wockhardt or even take two of the Wockhardt brand where I have been taking the Actavis tablet? Any help anyone can give me would be great.
With thanks in advance.

Try substituting the Wockhardt for Actavis. If the joint pain resolves it seems likely that Actavis was responsible and you should ask pharmacist to dispense Wockhardt only and complete a yellow card report about the Actavis yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/
The Actavis should be pretty much out of your system 8 days after the last dose. If the joint pain continues it is likely to be due to low vitamin D or low iron so ask your GP to check ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate.
