T2017,

If you have the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after results) please click on the v down arrow underneath your post and select edit and add the ranges to your results.

Are you in UK or elsewhere. Vitamin D result too low if it's UK units

7 month ago it was 24. Now it is 57. And I have been taking loading doses of it with "fatty" foods.

T2017,

TSH is low-normal, FT4 is in the upper range and FT3 4.7 is halfway through range so you appear to be adequately dosed on 125mcg. There is scope to increase dose to raise FT4 and FT3 which may improve symptoms but it may suppress TSH which your GP may be wary of doing. If GP won't increase dose to 150mcg ask whether you can try 125mcg/150mcg alternate days.

The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 0.3 - 1.0 with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email dionne.fulcher@thyroiduk.org if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.

B12 is good.

Ferritin is low. Ferritin is optimal halfway through range. You can raise ferritin by supplementing iron with 1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Take iron 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

VitD is suboptimal. VitD is replete >75. Most people are comfortable around 100-150. I would supplement 5,000iu daily x 8 weeks then reduce to 5,000iu alternate days and retest in March. Take iron 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

Magnesium and selenium are within range (normal).
