I am still confused about if I have Graves or Hashi
Am I understanding this right, that with Hashi you can have both TPO and TSI antibodies with Hashi, but with Graves you will only have the TSI antibodies? Is There a definitive test for Graves?
I have both kinds of antibodies. Had hypo symptoms before diagnosis. Then had hyper symptoms when diagnosed. Prescribed Methimazole 10 mg. Started feeling hypo again, reduced to 5 mg. And then hyper symptoms came back but still have the hypo stuff going on too!
Can you say anything about this without all the numbers? Feeling too rotten now to post them all. Having back pain,

Some patients have Graves + Hashimoto's in tandem but they will usually be hyperthyroid. It's not possible to be hyperthyroid and hypothyroid at the same time.
Hi the mstiles i am very similar to you, i have hashis but my endo refuses to do tsi for graves. I too am on 10mgs of carbi and feel overmedicated on this and my bloods are showing more hypo levels now- i am calling endo today to discuss my meds as i now want to try decreasing it again. I know when i went from 20mgs to 10mgs i felt worse heart palps, trembling but i persisted with it for 4 weeks and it sort of wavered off a little but it doesnt help because we have immune diseases so its hard to tell if its meds or the other sometimes. 😨😊
Yes it’s very confusing to figure out! I’ve read that you can’t be hyper and hypo both at the same time if your numbers are in range, but also that some folks can be diagnosed with both Graves and Hasimotos. How does that work, how do you get diagnosed and treated for this, and am I one of those people???hope you can get the TSI test soon
I’m going to post all my numbers today which I haven’t done yet, so maybe members can shed some light. I’ve learned what I know so far from folks on here, not from my endo who discounted antibodies and supplements entirely.
Hi there you can have graves and hasimotos but you cannot get them running at the same time as one another but you can have both as i have been told by experienced forum people and have also spoken to people who have both.
Fir hashimotos tpo i had requested it via my doc as i laid it on thick saying about my cealiac disease but tsi has to be done by endoc but i will get it i have not given in yet.
I dont understand it all either it is strange that when you have hashis you alternate between hypo & hyper but only on one meds!!
Ooh yes you must post your bloods with ranges as the lovely people here can help and you must learn all you can about your disease to aid you get better as it helps you knowing whats going on in your body.
Endo are not known are they for for caring attitude and patience, mine is the same- doctor has now prescribed me iron tablets as he now sees my ferritin levels are bordering on aneamia after having bloods done. Also had new bloids done last week for thyroid but the hospital have lost them!! 2nd time now😠 endo was not happy as he cant titrate dose until i do.😨.xx keep in touch.
