Methimazole

My dosage has been adjusted from 20 mg divided into evenly 10 mg dose twice a day to 15 mg divided into 10 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night..my question: is it better to divide the 15 mgs into three times a day or stay as prescribed?

I'm in the states and have a way to get prescriptions for compounded methimazole and can order any blood work I want as it's private. Thank you!

Diagnosis Graves’ disease, currently taking methimazole 5 mg twice daily. Also have AFib from high heart rate. mostrecent blood tests show t4 is now normal14. At worst was 53. T3 is 5.7 was 11.8. Problem is the the tsh is still .01. Ferritin only 24. How to increase Tsh ?

Has anyone experienced neuropathy in the legs and feet during and after stopping Amiradone, methimazole and prednisone? My Husband is 16 months off of Amiradone.... and 4 months off the others, he still has neuropathy really bad at night, severe depression and severe fatigue...

I control it with Methimazole 5mg. I pop a pill in the morning. They wanted to radiate it back then but I said "no I will pass thanks". Anyway I feel pretty good symptom wise and just float along working etc. I am 59 years old.

Methimazole dose around 5mg a day and since 2021 continues to make me feel awful. Crohn’s and endometriosis still completely flared with endometriosis marker CA125 responding to orlissa (stops estrogen I think ) slightly but not to other endometriosis drugs.

I was proscribed 10mg methimazole. In six weeks, I gained 30lbs I was miserable My labs stated I was then mildly hypothyroid. My endocrinologist apologized and cut the dosage in half. She said wait six more weeks. Two more weeks later and my throat and tongue swelled.

Therefore, methimazole was discontinued and replacement therapy gradually resumed until optimal hormone levels were reached.

After 20 days on those medication I had joint pains and i asked from my doctor to come again at the dosage 25 methimazole/ day, levethyroxine 62mg and i felt good enough but i felt better without levothyroxine.

More recently I have been on 2.5mg methimazole and for a few months things were stable, however after infections in recent months and a later a surgery, my symptoms seem to be spiking very aggressively. Is it possible that few infections have flared up my graves or thyroid again?

I started on Methimazole almost immediately. My numbers have gotten better but are still not controlled. The surgeon at MGH has recommended total thyroidectomy. I cannot do radioactive iodine because I also have Graves' induced Thyroid Eye Disease. This has been a shit year.

After December 28 labs on new years I eliminated methimazole for 3 days then resumed 5mg daily for 4 days then went to 10mg daily at the advice of my doctor. I felt pretty good for about 2 weeks until this week. I am now feeling achy and extra tired again.

Carbimazole converts very quickly to methimazole in the body so the side effects and adverse reactions are almost identical. Carbimazole and methimazole can [i]both[/i] cause agranulocytosis but this is a known and recognised adverse reaction.

Was on methimazole and then taken off. I was taken off meds for about 6-12 months then went hypothyroid. Was diagnosed a couple of years ago with Hashimoto's. Now I am on Synthroid 0.112 mg (112 mcg) and skip one dose every other Friday (as recommended by my previous endocrinologist).

My graves was under control but when I thought I may have covid my doctor said to quadruple my dose of methimazole for a week. That was little over a month ago and wondering if this might be related to my hand and foot issues. Anyone have similar symptoms with hypothyroidism?

I was well controlled by Methimazole. Because you have to stay 6 feet away from other living things and undergo treatment at your own home, I didn't want to try RAI until my cat received the exact same diagnosis. He underwent RAI on 08/30/2021 and I did it the following day.

I am currently on 20 mg of Methimazole daily (up from 15 in the middle of December). TSH <0.01 (still! Has been this low for over a year) T4 Free 1.4 (0.8 - 1.8) T3 Free 3.9 (2.3 - 4.2) I am in the normal range for T4 and T3 for the first time in a year.

I went from 20 mg methimazole to 10 mg by taking 1400 mg berberine with 200 mg cinnamon daily. Now I take 933 mg berberine and 66.66 mg cinnamon daily. I get my levels checked in a month to see if I need to bring down berberine or methimazole again. I'm amazed how fast and how well it worked.
