Hi sorry I'm new to the thyroid side and am slowly educating myself. Long story short I become very unwell February this year. Long list of symptoms. I found out so far privately that I have b12 pernicious anaemia. I tested positive for gastric parietal cell antibodies. Autoimmune issues with parietal cells attacking my intrinsic factor related to b12 absorption. My b12 was just above would gp's would treat at first. But now they do with injections. As it's in my family. This didn't sort out all my health issues. Just recently got diagnosed with Fibromyalia from rheumatologist. She did ask me if I had thyroid bloods done as they can cause similar symptoms as Fibromyalia. I'd had basic ones and they had looked fine to me so said they were ok. Then was given Fibro diagnosis. Well then realised that I hadn't been checked by all the specialists I'm under, for the autoimmune side of Thyroid. My daughter also has a few issues like me and her tsh was low. Which prompted me to get these done as a last blood test to rule out Thyroid issues. Can anybody tell me if it these show issues? And how best to get treatment from my gp. As what I have read as my tsh showing ok I will have a fight on my hands. I did read it could possibly be Hasimotos, but I'm still learning. Thanks for reading my long post.
Private blood tests results. : Hi sorry I'm new... - Thyroid UK
Private blood tests results.
Unfortunately in the UK you won't be diagnosed with hypothyroidism until your TSH is above the range or your Free T4 is out of range.
The best thing you can do is ask for people to private message you on where you can get someone who is well regarded to treat you privately on your results. Expect to have to travel.
If you can't do that then you are going to have to start reading and learn yourself before deciding what supplements/medication you may want to take.
So I have some good news. My gp called and said that even though I'm not showing as Hypothyroid yet on my bloods. She says she thinks my antibodies are high on this result and that she is going to start treating me and looking after me. As she stated that in the end I will have a problem and that my antibodies are attacking my thryoid. She's going to see me in 3 weeks, then further blood test in 6 weeks to check. I'm over the moon as thought would have a fight on my hands. Only thing is I got asked twice why I was paying for my prescription at chemist lol and had to explain why I don't think I'm entitled to free prescriptions yet. Dont think they both quite understood! First time I have seen a good doctor.
