I am looking for information please from people like myself without a Thyroid and without Hashimotos.
I have been taking 3 grains of NDT per day for the last 6 months. My recent blood tests showed that I was over medicated. FT3 8.3 (3.1 - 6.8) All of my other results were optimal. i.e. B12, Folate, Ferritin Vit D etc. No, antibodies or RT3
I intend to take T3 only and would very much appreciate any information on starting up and the dosage. Thank you.
Not sure why you only want advice from members without Hashi's and without thyroid. I did have Hashi's but it has gone since thyroidectomy.
If you left 12 hours between last dose and blood draw you are overmedicated and need to reduce dose by 1/2 grain to 1 grain. I would start by reducing by 1/2 grain and then in 1/4 grains if you need to reduce further. Being overmedicated is probably why you have a fast heart beat and have lost weight.
Why are you switching from NDT to T3?
2.5 grains NDT is equivalent to 62.5mcg T3. However, it is a bit of a leap going from 27mcg in 3 grains NDT to 62.5mcg T3 and I would start at 50mcg divided into 2 or 3 doses and increase in 6.25mcg increments thereafter.
I only had my thyroid removed in Oct 2015. Before my trachea moved I had no idea that I had a problem and took no medication. I swam, walked and did my Yoga.
Since I have had my thyroid removed I have tried Levo for 7 months and now NDT for 16 months. 2 grains for 4 months and 2.5 for 4 months. None of them work for me to feel even 80% of my old self, hence trying the T3 as a last result to feel normal.
I am not too worried about the heart and losing weight I can reduce the medication.
The T3 here in France is 25mcg. I will certainly try the 50mcg in three doses.
Clutter is pretty good on answering questions. And witch there was more people like it. I’ve lost mine as well. But I’m not on t3 but on t4. If you put your bloods result on it. Anyone who understands them will help u out.
Thanks I did post my full bloods results a few days ago but only received one reply. I traveled all the way to the UK from France so wasn't very happy.
Clutter has been good and I am now following her advice. I will post after Christmas to let people know if I have improved or not.
Late reply I know, but just seen your post. I had my thyroid removed in 2003, due to cancer. I have tried everything, Levo', T3, Armour and combinations. Couple of years ago I was on T3 only and felt ok, except for a few niggly problems. Somebody on this site advised me that it wasn't a good idea to go T3 only, for various reasons. I now take 2 grains of Nature-throid and am the best I have ever been. According to blood tests leaving 24 hours before medicating, I am slightly over medicated, but I don't care I am going on how I feel, which is what Dr Peatfield would probably advice me.
Thanks for your reply . I had been on NDT thyroid s and wanted to try Nature-throid but stuck with the 1st one. I don't suffer from gut problems either.
I have been on the new dose for approx 6/7 weeks now. Which is 1 x grain of NDT and 1/2 of T3 first thing and then 1/2 T3 in the afternoon. It was working well for the first 4 weeks but I feel a bit tired again now. It could be all the rubbish that I have been eating over Christmas.
Will go back no to my healthy eating and wait another two weeks and see what happens. The French T3 is 25 mcg. I may have to raise it up slightly.
I am glad that you are well on your two grains. Happy New Year.
I was going to do the same as you Hidden 1 x grain of Nature-throid, and half and half of T3. However as I seem to be ok at the moment I didn't want to rock the boat. That said, I get very tired and every evening nod off for about 10/20 minutes, even though I go to bed at 9 p.m. I also have yellow deposits around my eyes (Xanthelasma) caused by high cholesterol which says to me my medication isn't working sufficiently well. But like you I have overdone the Christmas Fayre and am waiting to see when I get back to my healthy diet what happens and whether I need to make some changes.
