Help with blood test results, please.

I had my blood tests done last Friday (last blood tests were done back in April this year). Is it possible to get the results on the same day, even though I was told that it would take at least a week before they were ready?

My TSH, which was 0.01 from this April , suddenly went up to 13.25miu/L [0.34 - 5.6]. Is this even possible?

TSH since July 2014: 0.43 miu/L

October 2014: 0.80 miu/L

December 2014: 0.15 miu/L

September 2015: 0.03 miu/L

March 2016: 0.05 miu/L

August 2016: 0.05 miu/L

September 2016: 0.02 miu/L

November 2016: 0.07 miu/L

April 2017: 0.01 miu/L

FT4 level = 4 .0 pmol/L [7.5 - 21.1] from 10.4 pmol/L back in April.

FT3 level from November 2016 = 3.60 pmol/L [3.0 - 5.0]

TPO antibodies <10 iu/mL [0.0 - 10.0]

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate = 20mm/h [0.0 - 12.0]

Eosinophil count = 0.45 10*9/L [0.04 - 0.4]

I have been on T3 and T4 combination since end of March 2015, but decided to stop taking T4 a month and a half ago due to debilitating joint and body pain for the past year. I have fatty liver disease and because this was disregarded/ignored, I found out that I needed to speak to a doctor before continuing levothyroxine. I have mentioned stopping levo to my GP when I saw him last month, but not sure whether he believed me and promptly told me that, and I quote, "T4 treatment is the best, according to research papers."

I also stopped my blood pressure tablets a fortnight ago as I found out that it would cause excess blood sugar, which is now reflected on my blood test results, even though I have been on a wheat/sugar/dairy-free diet for two months.

I requested to have my FT3, vitamin D3, zinc, B12, folate, and TGAb levels checked, yet they did not do this. Not enough blood was taken to have my cortisol levels checked. My current endo is starting to hint that I may not need T3 anymore, because he is using TSH as a treatment marker, and he even made me have blood tests in the middle of the afternoon during my first and only visit with him back in February of this year, even though I was aware that I should only have thyroid blood tests done before 9am and no taking thyroid medication the day before.

Your TSH should have been suppressed because you are taking T3! So called experts!!!! Not sure with where a fatty liver fits in with taking thyroid meds though.

Thank you for your reply.

I am confused as well as to why my TSH skyrocketed just after a month of not taking levo. I do not know when I will have an appointment with my endo, as previous attempts to ring the hospital have all been in vain.

I read on both package inserts that to let the doctor know about any liver disease. I just found it shocking that my GP was the one who initially ordered the abdominal scan and just disregarded the NAFLD.

Yes I couldn't work out an explanation why things changed so quickly an never heard anyone ever mention a connection with fatty liver either. So many though haven't a clue about good results whilst taking T3 and so the first thing they say is to lower dose!

I am worried that my endo will discontinue my T3 prescription when my TSH is way out of the reference range. I feel like I'm back to square one, tbh.

I don't know, he has only written to me once back in May to tell me that both my FT4 and FT3 levels were "in range" (lowest end of the range) and that they were similar from back last year November.

Thanks for replying and for listening.

Be aware that when you are taking T3 then the readings are looked at differently. Your TSH will. R suppressed, FT4 can drop lower and FT3 should be high in the range and is the only accurate reading. I think you should ask for a copy of your last results and the ranges and post them for comment. It sounds as though you are t on enough medication and he isn't helping you but you need to get an actual copy of what is happening.

I usually ask for a copy of my blood tests, but I just saw them by accident online when I logged on to my local GP practice's online appointments website. They used to test FT3, but it was not posted along with the other results.

I will check again tonight. Thank you again for your advice and for your help.
