I have been taking W.P. Thyroid for 18 months now but a few months ago developed quite bad eczema. I was taking 1.5 grains and did not have the eczema, it was when I increased to 1.75 grains I developed it on my hands, then when increased to 2 grains the rash spread to my arms. It is now on various parts of my body.
Could this be related to NDT or been hypo. My Doctor said as I am hypo. it will make me prone to eczema.
One thing I have looked into is that W.P. Thyroid contains Inulin which is from chicory root and it can apparently, increase yeast and cause rashes.
Any thoughts anyone.
Thank you.

Can't comment about your medication for thyroid but know good results for eczema can be found in vitamin F in evening primrose supplements. Have seen a child improve so that eczema using evening primrose treatment has resolved. When the evening primrose was stopped the condition came back, but resolved again on taking the vitamin F. If you can't swallow capsules you can always break them open and put in food.
I had been taking W.P. Thyroid for approx. a year before I developed the skin rashes, so I initially thought it could not be due to it. I then checked my dairy and found a connection with increasing my doses.
Started with cold urticaria in the winter, then in May started with the eczema.
I was taking 1.5 grains then increased to 1.75 grains and a couple of days later the eczema started on my hands. Increased to 2 grains, a couple of days later eczema appeared on my arms. I now have patches all over.
W.P. Thyroid is suppose to be hypoallergenic, this is the reason I chose it, but researching into Inulin from chicory root, I found it can causes allergies in people who are allergic to ragweed, as it belongs to the same family. (Do not know if I am allergic to ragweed but I do get hay fever)
I then did more reading and found Inulin can feed yeast which in turn causes rashes..
Did you increase your meds. before your skin problems started?
Did you your specialist do any allergy tests?
I have an appointment to at the Immunotherapy clinic, but not until 2nd January.
If you find look into it and find out any further information, would you kindly let me know.
that is strange about the virus as I also had one just before I started with the rashes.
I am starting to think that the rashes are nothing to do with the W.P. thyroid now.
Last week it was getting quite bad so I went to see a Dermatologist privately (rang for an appointment and got in the next day) and he is sending me for allergy tests, also gave me steroid creams and emollients.
He did say there is a preservative in lots of household products, toiletries and cosmetics that are causing allergies in a lot of people. It is called METHYLIOTHIAZOLINONE (MI for short) From what I have read it can be also be the IOTHIAZOLINONE mix.
