Hi I posted earlier about iron panel done at gps this week and noticed my ferritin had raised up without supplements. ...well now I've just got my medichecks and results are as follows. .
TSH < 0.005
FT4 16.9 (12-22)
FT3 8.08 (3.1-6.8)
3 wk ago T4 was below range and tsh was 0.01 but T3 wasn't done..
I have been trying to monitor by my temperatures and let me tell you they are roughly between 36-36.7 up and down through day!!Hence the utter shock at over range T3!!!.Not once on my ndt journey from half a grain to 2.5 have I felt good!!MY question is ...could my rising ferritin(see my last post earlier today) be down to over range T3??and....how much NDT should I drop to get back in range....?...I'm going to have to rethink the whole ndt journey as I would have thought I would of felt good (a sweetspot)somewhere along the line from undermedicated to overmedicated? Any suggestions ?Thanks

Yes my tpo antibodies were done at my request at gps 3wk ago and read 290...ironically a couple of years ago they were at 400 and I'm not even gluten free or supplementing selenium. They didnt test the other antibody but a couple of year ago that was negative. What do you suggest I do regards the high t3 gg ?This was my last ditch attempt at trying to get ndt alone good...but I've never reached a sweetspot, thanks
When were these labs done? Could be that the T3 has come down by itself by now. But, try stopping your NDT for a few days. When you start to feel hypo, start taking 2 grains again. There's no such thing as a last ditch attempt.
If your antibodies were over-range, just once, then you have Hashi's. Doesn't matter which one. Antibodies fluctuate all the time, so them coming down in the last test doesn't mean anything much but, they are the reason your levels go up and down.
Your TSH is right where you want it to be, it's just the FT3 that is a bit high. So, I would say you're on the tail end of a Hashi's 'hyper' swing.
Thanks for reply, when I say last ditch attempt I mean before opting to change to something else as I simply can't get it right and every dose from half grain to 2.5 and adressing vitamins etc has never made me feel well enough. The bloods were done on Monday morning 12 hr after last dose and was fasting. I got the results yesterday .I haven't taken any medication today and plan to leave off for a few days .I can't wait to feel 'hypo' as I present with same symptoms for both and even my temperatures are similar for both ways..however I have been 'tingling' for some time now so I m hoping that will stop and be an indication that I'm not overmedicated. In a few days I will carry on ndt with 2 grains and retest in 6 wks ..then if still not feeling good I will look into other options .Thanks
Interesting link ..yes it must be hashi as it can't be supplementing that's causing it to rise as I don't supplement ,and have only supplemented once in my life for about 6wks a couple of month ago ...that resulted in ferritin rising to 133 from previously what I was lead to believe was not optimal ferritin for my ndt to work (even though it wasn't exactly low)... but now without any supplements at all its risen to 190....
Ferritin will rise with inflammation. When you are ill or have inflammation in your body your iron is put into storage (ferritin). You need a 4 point iron panel test to fully understand where your iron levels are.
Hi I'm not ill (that I know of) but have hashimotos so therefore inflammation. Over the space of a couple of month my serum iron as dropped from 20 (7.0-30.0) to 16.3
TIBC as risen slightly from 42 to 44 umol/L (45.0-80.0)and my ferritin as gone from 133 to 190 ug/L I haven't been supplementing and when I did it was only for 5or 6 wk a couple of month ago.
