Short answer, yes. However, many GPs just don't have the knowledge on thyroid - although am amazed you got a T3 test through GP! Normally they don't do them.

There is a wealth of information here and lots of people who know much more than I do will comment more.

When were these tests done and has your GP contacted you about these results? If not, you need to make an appointment immediately as you have autoimmune thyroiditis and your vitamin D is extremely deficient and you need supplements.

TPO ANTIBODY 378 (<34) TG ANTIBODY >1200 (<115) these results show you have elevated antibodies consistent with Hashimotos thyroiditis. You can read more about Hashimotos on the Thyroid UK website.

Thankyou no GP has not contacted me about results and I am taking 800iu vitamin D is that enough

I'd say not. When mine was that low, I started 10,000iu per day. That was two years ago and I still take the same, maintaining at top of range. These are they:

No, it's not enough. You should have had loading doses and then a maintenance dose which is higher than 800iu. You can find the NICE guidelines on vitamin D on their website.

cks.nice.org.uk/vitamin-d-d...

There will also be CCG local area guidelines which will be similar. ASk your GP to treat you accordingly with loading doses and a higher maintenance dose.

Insist that your GP test your ferritin, B12 and folate levels too. People with thyroid conditions can be low in all these. Your GP really should have contacted you.

Your TSH level is elevated and if you are on thyroid hormone your need to have an increase in dose and a blood test every 6 weeks until you reach a TSH of about 1.0 which is where most people feel well. If you are not taking thyroid hormone medication then you need to start on levothyroxine.

You need to take Vit K with the Vit D and you need to get Vit B12 tested, also iron, ferritin and folate as you have Hashimotos disease (doctors will most probably deny it- high antibodies) and they don't know what to do about it. Speaking from personal experience do try a gluten free diet. It will help counteract the effects of the anitbodies as will optimum vitamin levels. We often have knackered guts with hypo and antibodies. Seaside Susie who posts on here is an absolute wizard with vitamins and how much supplements to take. A TSH of 34 is pretty grim. I was diagnosed at 5.8!!

you need to contact your GP & start thyroid hormone replacement therapy now.You must be feeling very under par with that high TSH?You shouldn't have to wait for an endo appointment
