Hi, I've booked to see a private endocrinologist about my hypothyroidism on Fri, and I'm just wondering if any of the supplements I'm taking could affect any thyroid blood test results? I take selenium, zinc, magnesium, b-complex and methylcobalamin, vit d. I'm on 200mcgs of thyroxine per day, but take my supplements late evening. I'm assuming they may want to do a fresh blood sample, but I'm not sure at the min.

Yes, there is a possibility that your B-Complex could affect your results, if it contains biotin.
Most B-Complex supplements do. Don't take your B-Complex between now and the test. Two days without biotin is probably ample. You want to make sure you don't have lots of biotin in your blood stream.

Since writing the above post it now turns out that biotin affects far more than just Thyroid Function Tests :

That's really interesting, I never knew any of that! Good job I checked really. Thank you for your quick reply! 😊
Sodo,
Remember to leave taking Levothyroxine until after your consultation in case a blood test is sprung on you.
