Medication trial and error

I hope this doesn't sound too reckless. I don't know about anyone else . . . when I take either NDT, T3 or Levothyroxine I seem to feel what it's doing to my system about as quickly, if not faster than, taking an aspirin. It's almost immediate sometimes. For instance concluding that my 1/2 NDT and 20mcg T3 is on the one hand's pretty good (clearer head ,focus, energy and a bit more happy potential . . . and strangely less tinnitus . . .go figure ) it was making me feel I would say slightly over medicated. So for the last two days I tried 3/4 NDT and 10mcg T3. A slight crash occurred, legs like lead and very cloudy head . . ..slightly anxious. Not wanting to increase T3 but feeling my system needing 'something' I thought I'd try 25mcg Levo as this had calmed me down once before. Hey presto! Honestly, within 2-3 mins I felt revived and wishing now I'd gone to the little local festival with my wife and some friends. ( very fed up with not going to things cos of not feelin' up to it!) I'm not a kid, 57 yrs old, I do know myself more or less, so certain it isn't placebo/imagination etc.

What's going on here please? Any thoughts thanked for in advance

2 to 3 minutes after swallowing the levo, it would still be in your stomach, so it does seem to me like a placebo effect. Either that, or the T3 had just kicked in.

I'm not sure the bodies workings are quite that simplistic. I'm not made of metal

What has being made of metal got to do with anything? The T4 in levo is attacked to a sodium molecule, which has to be removed before the T4 can be absorbed in the gut. It then has to get to the liver or somewhere, and be converted into T3 to be active. I don't think all that is going to happen in 3 minutes. Do you?

well actually since you asked and based on the evidence of my own experience I would have to say yes I do

OK

I have that too, but its always 5-7 minutes. After that time the first piece of T3/T4 gets in the blood stream. Its not placebo, I think it has to do something with the receptors that upregulate or something.

thank you. I was really hoping it wasn't just me. T3 is slower I would say but I have noticed NDT can be quite fast acting and builds. Perhaps that narrows it down to T4 (as it's in NDT too ) being receptor upregulating friendly, as you put it. :)

I have been on T4-only,T3-only & am now on T4/T3.Will be trialling NDT with T3 soon,so will follow your longer-term reactions to the mix you are trying with interest!

When I first introduced T3, yes I got a real "whoosh" about 15 mins after taking.

Only lasted a few days.

I don't notice at all now.

Though wierdly it does tend to make me feel very relaxed and sleepy (always assumed it would have opposite effect )

especially first dose at 6am - great for a nice doze

I take split dose - 6am, noon and 5pm

Decades ago when I started Levo also used to get quick change in how feeling about 20 mins after taking (was told it was impossible)
