Should I be worrid about my blood results?

Hi. Newbie here :) I was diagnosed with a goiter last October. A scan confirmed nodules & cysts on both sides but I have been told by Consultant he doesn't need to see me again. I had blood test last November & was told they are all fine with no further action needed - TSH was 0.84..... Free T4 was 15, Cholesterol, Potassium, Calcium & platelets were all above range & had exclamation marks beside them.

I've felt unwell for a year now, chronic fatigue, weight gain, bone ache, muscle ache, dry hair, brittle nails, hot flashes, odd dizzy spells, poor concentration, no motivation & numerous other ailments, so my GP did further tests, saying he suspected low Vit D

My latest blood test results (1st August) did show low Vit D at 44 (50.00-200.00) The surgery receptionist rang to tell me I should take Vit D supplement but didn't have a clue what dosage - so I bought Vit D3 1,000 strength. The lastest result reads TSH 0.77 (down by 7 from November) & exclamation marks against potassium (up by 0.2 from November), creatinine (up by 18 from Nov) & platelet count (same as last Nov) But I have again been told all's fine (except vit D) & no further action needed.

As my Vit D level isn't extremely low, I'm unsure it's that which is causing all my ailments - can anyone advise me if it might be something that is flagged up in my results? Am I wrong in thinking the exclamation mark against a result is to alert a GP to a problem? I've been Googling most of the day & my brain has had enough of trying to work out something that I don't understand

BeachyBoo,

An exclamation remark flags up an abnormal result but being mildly above or below range doesn't mean there is a problem.

VitD 44 is insufficient and that can cause bone and joint pain. Can you post your Calcium results and ranges? High calcium can indicate hyperparathyroidism.

TSH 0.77 does not indicate primary hypothyroidism. It's slightly lower than TSH in November which probably means FT4 is slightly higher than 15 now.

Have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested? This is to determine if you have autoimmune thyroid also called Hashimoto's (90% of hypo is autoimmune)

Get folate ferritin and B12 tested too

Extremely common to have low vitamin D with Hashimotos

But low vitamin D is obviously common anyway

Hi. no, never had thyroid antobodies tested, nor ferritin or B12. I've seen countless Dr's in past year, none of them seem really interested in any of my symptoms, all I get is "your blood tests are normal" .. is only the last one I saw who suggested Vit D. I don't have a regular Dr, so see a different one each time, so it's pot-luck as to whether I get one who's interested :/ Will make an appointment & ask for those test .. thank you for the reply :)

If they remain unhelpful then private tests are possible (lots of us on here use them)

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven tests all and are most popular

DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in the morning and fasting
