Jarrows Inositol Have I found a weight loss cure?? Helps PCOS and sex hormone imbalances...why have I not heard of this before?!

Think this is going to work really well for me. Been using for a week and have had weight loss already and mood feels good. I also am estrogen dominant so really hoping it will help with that too. Will report back. Might just be coincidental but read info on it below. Please everyone do your own research.

Also feel a glimmer of libido returning???!!! 😱

I've also been taking Jarrows Inositol powder for the last two weeks. I take about 4-5g with my dinner with L-Theanine. I was recommended to do this to reduce cortisol and help with sleep. I can't say I've noticed a difference. I've got high levels of Beta Glucaronidase which means I don't eliminate oestrogen as well as I should. I don't have any libido. I'd also LOVE to lose weight.

Are you taking capsules or the powder? How often are you taking it? Glad to hear it's working for you and thanks for sharing.

Powder. Apparently much better than capsules.

I'm taking half a tsp first thing in the morning which I read was the best time to take.

Was taking L theanine too but there was something in that that made me itch terribly.

High cortisol too and estrogen, we're in the same boat.

I'd have rather cut a finger off than had sex but the last two days , well...

My husband is away, typical! He'd have thought it was his birthday 😂

Have lost 3lbs...

Holy basil and Rhodiola for high cortisol but sure you know that too.

Katepots,

Your reply really made me chuckle 😂 and I've been exceptionally miserable lately. It's one step forward and two steps back at moment when it comes to fixing my thyroid. The more I increase dessicated thyroid (Metavive) the more anxious I get.

I tried 5 mg of DHEA for two days which apparently is meant to fix libido, make you leaner and balance cortisol - sounds like the fountain of youth. It made me calmer but sleep went out the window and I was recommended to take a higher dose. Not sure I'll be trying that again.

Well done on the weight loss. Three pounds is fantastic! What brand and dose of L-Theanine are you taking?

Incidentally, I also tried liposomal GABA with L-Theanine yesterday by Quicksilver. It instantly calmed me down. I'm also taking L-Glutamine powder to nip those sugar cavings in the bud and also helps with healing the gut.

I've got Swansons Holy Basil. What brand and dose of Rhodiola are you taking? Are you also taking Seriphos or Phosphatidylserine?

I feel like I've got more adaptogens in my cupboard than a health store!

Hahaha yes my husband looks at the corner of the kitchen that is my health food shop and I see those eyebrows raising 😳

Have stopped the l theanine and ditched it so can't remember brand I'm afraid.

The lipsomal GABA with l thianine sound interesting on the calming front.

Natures answer Rhodiola rosea

Just a couple of mls daily. I found that made my boobs really tender so although it worked re cortisol and anxiety I decided it might not be good for the excess estrogen. For those it works for it's really good though.

Not taking Seriphos or Phosphatidylserine.

Found Great Lakes collagen powder really good for healing gut.

Also a good probiotic. Megasporebiotic is good but pricey!

Glad I made you laugh. So easy to get bogged down with this blasted disease. Grrr

Katepots,

Maybe it's the Great Lakes Hydrolyzed Collagen that's causing weight loss?

Dr Westin Childs has written two articles recently about this. He gives weight loss a good reason to take it. Could that be helping you shed the pounds?

Not sure what the difference is between collagen peptides and hydrolysed collagen is though.

Gluten/casein free really helped lost over a stone but have put weight back on recently. Been taking the collagen for ages.

Fairly sure it's the inositol as weight loss daily since started.

Will keep you posted when I'm 100% sure.

I've been gluten and dairy free for some time now. I've got Hashimoto's and a gluten intolerance according to a stool test but I've not lost any weight. I need to sort out Candida too. I wonder if that's going to help.

Keep us posted and great job.

Hi serendipitious

Candida is associated with yeast products and sugar. If you cut down on carbs, and replace with

green leafy, or water vegetables, with protein foods

such as white meat - chicken - fish - and cottage

cheese, you will lose weight. and it will probably help the candida. I know candida can make you feel really tired. I have had several attacks with diabetes, and have to watch carbs to lower blood sugar. Watch out for hidden sugars in sweetners

in tonics and soft drinks, which may convert to glucose in the liver. I have noticed my blood sugar went sky high after drinking a sugar free tonic water - the sweetners used were no good for me.

Recommended veg are broccoli, cabbage, especially savoy - and french and runner beans.-

root vegs are not recommended, but small portions can be part of your low carb diet.

As you have hashimotos you have to watch substances which might be toxic such as

fluorides in water in toothpaste. Histamines in hard cheese, can also affect your thyroid.

Expect you know all this already - but it is adapting the diet which is difficult . Sometimes fruit is

satisfying but one banana and a peach will give you more fruit sugar which converts to in the liver.

VitaminC supplements of 1000grms a day will help your adrenals and thyroid and related asthma.

Hi Serendipitous

Where did you find the gaba ? Or are you not in the UK? Would love to get some and have searched everywhere

Serendipitious• in reply toDaffers123

Daffers123,

I bought it from here but it seems to be out of stock at the moment.

proactivehealthcare.co.uk/q...

You can get GABA relatively cheaply from US websites such as iherb.

Phosphatidylserine Sounds interesting, had to go and look that up 😂

Serendipitious profile image
Serendipitious• in reply toKatepots

So there's Phosphatidylserine and Phosphorylated Serine or Seriphos. This is the converted form of Phosphatidylserine.

Apparently you can't take Seriphos for longer than 3 months so now I'm thinking I should go back to Phosphatidylserine which I used to take previously.

Katepots,

Just a thought. How do you know you're oestrogen dominant? Have you got blood results for sex hormones?

Katepots profile image
Katepots• in reply toSerendipitious

I knew years ago before I even knew about my Hashimotos and hypothyroidism. Had to have laser treatment and then a hysterectomy so found out then.

Haven't had tests recently but funnily enough I've just ordered through bluehorizon to see where I am now.

Yes get Candida sorted that causes all sorts of stuff.

Never ending 😂

Katepots,

Did you fix candida using something from the GP or did you go down the alternative medicine path?

Also, I'm thinking of trying Great Lakes Hydrolyzed Collagen. Where did you buy it? Somewhere in the US or a U.K. website? I've heard it can stop you from going grey. How else did it help you? Thanks

Katepots profile image
Katepots• in reply toSerendipitious

Uk on Amazon. Just has really helped with healing gut and I seem to react less to bad foods if they slip in.

Good article about candida, yes natural route, no sugar, probiotics etc...

This is such an amazing and ineresting 'conversation' I would love to know how/where the Gaba came from as I can't find it anywhere! WIll ask below but in meantime, I have found Westin Childs website very informative.

Now off to get my myinusitol and Gt Plains collagen!

Thanks everyone

Katepots

Good luck. Really recommend the collagen, wouldn't be without it now and the myinusitol or inusitol I'm using so far seems brilliant 😀

Katepots,

I've also ordered the hydrolysed collagen. Thanks.

Katepots,

How are you getting on with the Inositol? Is it still helping with weight loss? I'm guessing you're optimally medicated too? I'm still not there yet.

Katepots profile image
Katepots• in reply toSerendipitious

Hi,

I'm really glandular so under my armpits I have what I call armpit sausages haha, really hate it. Think it's excess breast tissue but very sore, well they aren't as sore and seem smaller :) boobs not as sore either. Weight now stabilised but I'm not sure I'm taking enough but taking things slow.

Mood is definitely improved too :)

I saw you said that collagen may not be by grass fed cows any more 😩Has yours arrived yet. Still grass fed?

I have grass fed cows I'll have to see if I can make my own and supply!!

Serendipitious profile image
Serendipitious• in reply toKatepots

It hasn't arrived yet but maybe I saw photos of it where I couldn't see grass fed and thought they'd changed the formula. It's probably not the case. That's a very generous offer but hopefully you won't need to resort to any desperate measures. Do you really have some cows? Lucky you!

I wonder if your sore boobs are down to oestrogen dominance?

Are you taking the amount stated on the container?

Katepots profile image
Katepots

Yes I think it is.

I take 1/4 tsp of inositol which is suggests on the pot of the one I bought. I'm wondering if it's sorting hormone imbalances as definitely now not sore at all...

The collagen I take 1tbsp daily in my smoothie.

Hi

Just thought Id check back on this interesting discussion! I have got my great Plains Hydro collagen and also the Gaba so thank you all for helping with that.

I cant remember or spot where you got the inositol - could someone remind me please ? anything to help with shedding the middle aged spread.

Found the gaba to be very calming, amazing. will be starting the collagen tonight and hope to see improvements in my grumpy gut

I think Westin Childs website is awesome!

Katepots profile image
Katepots

Got mine on Amazon. Loving it. Boobs not lumpy or sore any more and I've lost 5lbs! Also think it's improved my mood and still seem to have a bit of libido which I thought was dead and buried! 😩

It's Jarrow Formulas

Pharmaceutical grade Inositol

Just take 1/4 tsp a day so will last ages!

Please read up about it first. X

Hi Katepots, I came across your posting when searching for inositol and have sent a private message - not sure if you have seen it. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, Amanda

Thank you for posting this. The thread is very interesting especially as I'm pretty certain to be estrogen dominant and unable to shift weight.
