Wonderful explanations, especially about weight loss. Keep that link handy! Maybe I will too.

Good post, thank you!

Good article except for some people, like me, t3 induces "road rage" and depression. I suspect adrenal problems but doc says all is "normal" there. I think doc is nuts. I remain low on t3 and overweight in order to not want to hit anyone who crosses me. Sadly, these hormones aren't a one size fits all.

Hi Dellie sorry to hear T3 doesn't suit you, as you say, one size most certainly doesn't fit all. It's such a personal journey for each and every one of us. Hope things get sorted for you one day x

Thank you. Taking 20 mcg of t3 caused my hair to fall out, as well. I was on NDT. 2 grains. My journey to be "normal" ended with the realization that something is wrong that keeps me from being able to use t3 the way normal people do. Accepting that has helped. Thanks again. The article is a good one and it was good of you to share.

Does T3 in NDT affect you the same way, Dellie?

in reply toClutter

Yes. I can't take more than 1/2 grain or my emotional state and anger is ridiculous. I've tried raising just 1/4 grain, and can't do it.

You need to make sure your vitaminD is high in the optimal range of 75-200 to aid conversion of T4 to T3 then. Is your FT3 good?

in reply toClutter

I took 10000 ITU d3 for a year and half and it went from 32 to 57 but it hasn't gone any higher. I am allergic to the sun. No. My t3 is at the bottom of the range, my t4 is just a little above mid range and TSH is 0.05 No doctor can figure out what is going on since they all say my adrenal tests are "normal". I have quit trying, Clutter. My life has revolved around trying to get better for over 20 years. I am 62 now, and tired of living my life like that. I didn't want to take away from this post, because I do think it could help a lot of people. Just wanted to point out there are no easy answers for some of us. Thanks for your questions to me, though. I appreciate the feedback.

Dellie, I think it's good to remind people that not all drugs suit everyone and to point out that T3 and NDT don't suit everyone.

I found this information very interesting, thank you. I am collating information to take to my GP in order to do battle with him about my Levothyroxing medication. I would like him to give me prescription for Armour which I think is the answer to many of our problems. Anyone have a sympathetic GP WHO WILL PERSRIBE armour?

Yes I do -NHS prescription -but Armour doesn't suit me so moved onto a different brand. feel free to email me.

As per usual I think the unelected bodies would use this as a further excuse NOT to prescribe T3!! It may seem logical but to promote the weight loss part of using T3 is detrimental to the people that desperately need T3 because they are not converting.

Mmm, hadn't thought of looking at it like this. I was just pleased to read how it all works inside us!!

Very interesting. I think I am on enough t3 (100mcg) but I still don't seem to be able to lose weight. Maybe I need a slight increase. I'm experiencing a major crash this afternoon as I forgot to take my lunchtime dose. Perhaps that is an indication I need more.

An interesting article nonetheless. Thanks for posting :)
