Dear All, I am suffering terribly with symptoms of Hypothyroidism and am really unwell. I had bloodwork done with Medichecks and was hoping I could have some help interpreting the results please? I am also hoping to see a private Endocrinologist. I was considering Kevin Shotliff, as he also has an NHS list and I can't afford many appointment, but any recommendations of London Drs gratefully recieved. I'm sorry if this is very basic stuff, I am just so tired i am getting very muddled up when I try to work it out. Thank you

Please edit your post and put the range in brackets next to each test results e.g.

TSH 2.08 (0.35-4.5)

Then people will comment on your results.

Have you had the following tested as they can give you symptoms similar to hypothyroidism:

1. Vitamin B12

2. Vitamin D

3. Folate

4. Iron - both haemoglobin and ferritin?

If so please put the results down with the ranges in brackets next to them.

Hi bluebug, my vitamin test results are also now in my post. No haemoglobin unfortunately as it was not an option on the test I had.

Do you have a vitamin B12 test result? As it is not up there.

What type of vitamin B12 test did you have? Just that the range you have is different from others I've seen.

Just a regular one, not the active B12 test.

Are you on any thyroid medication?

No thyroid medication, and so far no success in getting GP to investigate, hence the private bloods.

It would really help if you had the results from a full blood count.

The reason for this is at the moment the only results that look suspect are your folate and vitamin B12 results. However as they are both in range the NHS will not do anything. The best thing for you to do is post on the pernicious anaemia society on healthunlocked for further advice on what optimal level you should have for those two.

If you are not on thyroid hormones then your thyroid would be considered euthyroid e.g. normal thyroid function and no doctor, whether NHS or private, will treat you.
