Please can anyone help....?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can give me some advise. I had a TT in June last year. Having been up and down on Levo since then. From February this year my results are as follows:

Results after Levo increased from 75mcg/100mcg on alternate days to 100mcg each day. Feb 2017

Free Thyroxine 22.9 pmol/L (11.0-23.0)

TSH 0.59 mU/L (0.3-5.5)

Free T3 5.7 pmol/L 4.1-7.9

Vit D. 25 Hydroxyvitamin D. 89 nmol/L

I am taking 800IU colecalciferol each day, prescribed by GP.

I started to pick up and apart from TED which is being dealt with thought I had cracked it....at least I felt partly human again.

I then had another blood test in March for my yearly well woman. Didn't know my thyroid bloods were being taken so hadn't fasted and was not first thing in the morning. These results were:

Free Thyroxine 24.0 (11.0-23.0)

TSH 0.2 (0.3-5.5)

No T3.

Dr wanted to reduce Levo to 75mcg each day. I objected and agreed to reduce to 75mcg at weekends. So took 100mcg Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs & Fri and 75mcg Sat & Sun.

Still felt not too bad, although started to ache a bit and felt more tired.

Next blood test in May (Endo asked for cortisol test & Vit D)

Free Thyroxine 23.4 (11.0-23.0)

TSH 0.10 mU/L (0.3-5.5)

Vit D 25 Hydroxyvitamin D 84 nmol/L

Ref ranges;

< 15 nmol/L Consistent with severe deficiency

15-30 nmol/L Consistent with deficiency

31-50 nmol/L Consistent with insufficiency

51-250 nmol Adequate

> 500 nmol/L Risk of toxicity.

Cortisol 288 nmol/L time of sample 09.03

Expected early morning values (6am to 10am) are 166 to 507 nmol/L lower values would be expected later in the day, trough levels occurring at midnight.

T3 was requested but no results for this so lab didn't do this!

The GP reduced my Levo again so I now take 75mcg on a Friday as well as at the weekend. I have started to have bad days again, two this week, where I feel as if my legs are going to buckle under me, I feel weak and tired. I don't do much during the day, just do one job like clean the bathroom and I have to then rest! I go to bed at around 11pm and don't get up until 9.30am and sometimes 10am!! Although I do wake two or three times in the night. I have also started having palpitations again ( I take 20mg of propranolol for this having reduced from 40mg as the palps disappeared) I don't want to increase the propranolol again if I can help it but do feel I should perhaps increase my Levo back up to 100mcg on a Friday....what are your views. My next blood test is August.

Sorry gone on a bit but very frustrated as I had been feeling a lot brighter and had started to go out and about again without having to rest all the time. I don't want to get back to feeling like that again, but this week I can feel it creeping up.....!😴😂

Your. FT4 is high in range and your FT3 lower so I don't think you are. Inverting well so each time your dose is decreases then your FT3 will decrease.

Ask your doctor to test B12, folate and Ferritin. These, with Vit D help conversation and we are often low in them. So best to start by getting them tested and then post your results and ranges. You could becin range and your doctorceill tell you that you are fine but like thyroid meds it's where in the range that is important.

You need to get your Vit D higher and 800 iu is just acmaibtenance dose. I would buy some 5,000 and take one a day. Have you been told to take Vit K2 and magnesium with your Vit D? That stops you getting excess calcium in your blood and it forming stones or calcified muscle. The calcium is then deposited in your teeth and bones where it is needed. If you are on blood clotting medicine then check you can take K2 with your doctor first-thatvis important.

You really need to get your T3 levels checked especially with no thyroid.

Definitely get all your vits checked and a full blood count as symptoms can be similar. Did you have any nitrous oxide anesthetic during op (gas and air)

I'm assuming your parathyroids were checked a couple of months after op and all was functioning okay? Have you had calcium levels checked recently?

Not what you're looking for?
