medichecks results different from GP

I did a home test back in. March in order to get some information other than the GP test who wanted to reduce my Levo and put me on Statins.

I take 100mcg daily and feel well on this dosage, when I was on 75mcg, I felt lethargic and not myself.

The new results are

CRP HS. 1.510 mg/L. (Range < 3)

Ferritin. 175 up/L. (Range 30 - 332)

B12. 88.9 pmol/L (range 37.5 - 188)

Vit D. 97.7 nmol/L (range 50 - 250)

TSH. 0.039 mIU/L (Range 0.27 - 4.2)

Free T3 5.5 pmol/L (Range 3.1 - 6.8)

Free thyroxine 21.5 pmol/L (range 12 - 22)

The comments from Medichecks suggest that I might have overactive symptoms on these results, but I don’t have weight loss for example, and I find trying to lose weight almost impossible. I have reduced carbohydrates but find that if I eat bread or a small cake, my weight goes up overnight!

can you reassure me that my desire not to reduce my Levothyroxine dosage is correct?

Thanks

Often the case that different labs produce different results, and even the same lab will too.

Blood tests that are 100% accurate are hard to achieve, making the thyroid journey all the more frustrating when considering the drugs have a a very narrow therapeutic index and we have to make decisions on dose based on these.

They are probably focussing on TSH which is not a reliable marker( according to research)....this is a problem that medics just do not get their heads round.

If you are hypothyroid it is almost physically impossible to become hyperthyroid.

So long as FT3 is within range you are not in danger of becoming overmedicated.

They confuse 'overmedicated" and "hyperthyroid"....not the same thing!

Your numbers look fine so if you feel well change nothing..... they are supposed to consider symptoms and you have none so refuse any attempt to mess with your dose

Results depend on how the machines are calibrated....that can differ.

The best way to compare is to calculate the results percentage through the reference range....quick calculator
