High zinc levels

Hi all, I have just received from medichecks my zinc and selenium blood test results (the private doctor I saw in relation to my low T3 & T4 recommended I supplemented with these but I'm rather glad I got tested before taking them!) My selenium is 112 ug/l (65-150) and my serum zinc 27.6 (umol/L 11=18). Does anyone have any ideas as to why my zinc could be this high and what (if anything) I should do? Thanks, Jen

If the sample was hemolyzed it could cause falsely elevated zinc.

High zinc isn't something to get worried about unless you show clear symptoms of zinc poisoning/low copper.

That's good!

I don't know are you going to see the same doctor that recommend supplementing zinc, but I would mention about that test to any doctor you are seeing in the future just to make sure it isn't any concern.

High serum zinc can also indicate metabolic issues like diabetes in certain cases.

I've got an appointment to see my GP next week so will definitely mention my high serum zinc along with my very high saliva cortisol results! Thank you!
