My result is 33 which doctor said is low and to take a multivitamin with Vit D - would this be good advice or is there a better vitamin out there? Ferritin, Folate are also on the low side.

Vit D
Syd35,
It's rubbish advice, there's not nearly enough vitD in a multi vit. Your GP obviously didn't refer to local guidelines or NICE CKS re treatment. My sister's GP prescribed 20,000iu D3 twice weekly to raise her vitD from 40. You can buy 5,000iu and 10,000iu D3 on Amazon. Please use the affiliate link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... VitD should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.
Thanks Clutter. Got the feeling he was just trying to rush me out the door and he is one of the better doctors at my practice! Wouldn't prescribe anything for low Vit D but gave me Ferrous Fumate for low ferritin, had to buy some Vit C as believe that aids in absorption. Waiting on selenium results so no doubt another tablet to add to my growing concoction : (
The NICE guidline requires prescription if your result is below 50 and your have 'musculoskeletal' symptoms (meaning any issues with bones or muscles). If you fit that brief then your Doctor should have prescribed.
Thanks leoopard - was empathically told he couldn't prescribe me anything as my level wasn't under 25, he said under 50 was low but under 25 deficient. Don't seem to have any musculoskeletal problems at the moment at least I don't think I do!
