Any pharmacist will get you Armour once you have a prescription.

An NHS prescription will, of course, be free of charge.

A private prescription will cost you an arm and a leg.

IF you get an NHS prescription you should post the info here so that we can all come round and have a celebratory party. I'll bring the champagne.

thanks Panda.........unfortunately the local east Suffolk ccg will not allow me to have anything except levothyroxine which has ended me up in hospital 3 times with AF - without ever doing anything at all like a cure! they are happy to spend £750 a week on cancer drugs to keep me alive but not £2 on ndt/armour that also keeps me alive.

I am not sure how they think this will work...........the parts of me with cancer (all) can stay alive but the bits of me that have no thyroid hormones (all) will die??.....so I will be alive but dead??.....maybe they have been reading too much about Schrodinger's cat? they are deaf to all attempts at logic.

the prescription will have to be private as the ccg have forbidden the Dr from giveing me an nhs prescription, so - alive but dead with out arms and legs :(

Armour is the most expensive NDT, you might want to check out the other options. Thai NDTs suit many people and are available without prescription but have to be ordered online from overseas suppliers.

Really good and comprehensive summary of NDTs SSS, many thanks.

That sounds quite familiar. My complaint to the local CCG and APC (area Prescribing Committee) about their recommendations for the blacklisting of NDT/Armour is due to be answered very soon. I shall take great pleasure in publishing it here. Unless I am extremely lucky and have embarrassed them into doing the right thing, reversing their recommendation and giving me prescriptions for NHS NDT, it should be definitive proof to all that those who support the banning of NDT to those who need it are totally insane.

I have been offered NDT on a private prescription for my efforts, which I have refused due partly to the 10X cost compared to Thai NDT but mainly to the fact that this decision was probably made to keep me quiet. They should not have done that, it made me even madder!

With a prescription I found Springfields the most reasonable on line pharmacist, that was for Nature Throid.

thanks for that Elaine. I am still waiting for the hospice to organise it but when I have it I will try them :)

Prices do fluctuate because of the value of the £. However, I found Tollesbury to be three times the cost of Springfields back in March.
