So saw my wonderful endo today who was very nice, intelligent and really cared about what's going on.bUp until this year he was prescribing both t3 and NDT. He's now been forced to stop and he's appealed many times and has done everything he possibly can for his patients but being letdown himself. He said he would monitor me while I self treat but shouldn't have to do that. Surely the people who have made the ban can be done/sued for medical negligence cos that is what they are doing? Latest bloods showed TSH at 0.3 and free t4 think at 20 or 21 but no free t3. He was going by earlier blood tests which hospital organised. I unfortunaly can't remember those results but my T4 was 23 so overrange slightly and free T3 was 5.1 (3.8 - 6.8) I said about self medicating and I can't remember if he said take it three times or two times a day but he said drop your levo dose by 25mcg ( on 125mcg so drop to 100mcg) then add 5mcg of T3 in morning and again in afternoon. I can only get T3 in 25mcg though so will have to split it into 4. He also said nature throid was the best in consistency and potency.
I've got another appointment in 3 months with bloods. So where should I start?

I'd take your dose of T3/T4 once daily. It's less of a bother. I myself take one daily dose. of whatever combination I've taken and It is far easier to find a window when your stomach is empty as food interferes with the uptake of hormones.
I am glad you have a nice Endo who is aware his patient cannot convert.
So you are to take 100mcg levo thyroxine and 10mcg of T3 daily. You don't need to quaerter your 25mcg as half is 12.5 so it is quite near 10 it is going to be fiddly if you take it in quarters.
Also keep an eye on your pulse/temp and if either goes too fast (I don't think it will as dose of T3 isn't high) reduce dose slightly.
If you take the combination when you get up (your stomach is empty) and take dose with one glass of water and then wait approx one hour before eating. Some people prefer bedtime dose, in that case you should have last eaten if your meal contained protein about 2.5 to 3 hours before taking combo. If you were having a blood test next morning you'd miss this night dose and take after blood test and at bedtime as usual.
If I were to try Nature Throid instead of T3 on it's own, what dose would i start with? One grain a day? So 65mg thyroid extract (1 grain) contains 38mcg levothyroxine (T4) and 9mcg liothyronine (T3)
