Do not take any B vitamins until you have had your B12 and folate tested by your doctor. Once you start taking them, the results will be skewed.

And, while you're at it, ask him to test vit D and ferritin. Low ferritin will definitely make you feel tired. No point in testing for magnesium, because it will always be in range, due to the way the body handles magnesium. But, that doesn't mean you're not deficient. Most people are, because soils are depleted. Just take some - about 350 - and see if it helps with fatigue.

I cannot imagine how olives and olive oil would help with fatigue. I use a lot of olive oil, and often eat olives, but I've never found they helped with anything. As for coconut milk, well... You're going to read and hear a lot of crazy stuff. People often rave about coconut oil, but milk? Who knows. We often have to try things to find out if they work for us. Coconut milk won't do you any harm, so try it. :)

Hi joannagof & gregoose

I've just order a test kit from blue horizon - plus 11. I currently take a pretty standard vit b complex ( Holland & Barratt ) and bog standard vit d ( I'll get the strengths later if it helps, its currently 4am n don't want to disturb the other half. Can't sleep as ever ! )

Should I stop taking these supplements before I do the blood test ?

Unfortunately the B complex MAY contain enough vitamin B12 to alter your test result - no one can tell you for certain. The only way to tell is to be off supplements containing B12 for 5 months.

The vitamin D is fat soluble so won't effect the result at the level you are saying you have taken.

What type of B12 does it contain? Cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin? If it's cyanocobalamin, you probably won't have absorbed any, anyway, it's the wrong type.

Hi greygoose

Thanks for the response. Yes it is cynanocobalamin. So no worries there.

Although I do have another dilemma. After my chemist irresponsibility randomly changed my brand of levo to teva from actavis, I ended up quite poorly. On it for 3 weeks, off it now since last Thursday and back to actavis. But still not feeling 100%. Do you think I should delay my tests until I'm more back to normal on my actavis ?

Many thanks

If l were you, l would do the test six weeks after you started taking the activis again.
