When a doctor says 'normal', all he means is 'in range'. There's no such thing as 'normal' for everybody, it depends where in the range they fall. Doctors know very little about thyroid and are not very good at understanding blood test results, which is why we always have to ask for a print-out of the results, and learn to understand them ourselves. It's the only way to get well. :)

Hi LouLoubea, be careful about what the doctor says, as per greygoose's response. He is probably just looking at your TSH. I assume that is why you had such a big drop in dose. That probably shouldn't have happened. If somehow your FT3 was over range would be the only credible reason for cutting your dose in half especially after 8 years. Please don't let this lapse as you should probably be back on your normal dose immediately.

Blood tests always have to be the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow 24 hours between the last dose of levo and the test and take it afterwards. This allows the tSH to be at its highest as it drops throughout the day.

Not what you're looking for?
