Hi, I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who has experience of taking T4 (Levothyroxine sodium) made by Uni-Pharma. Mainly re quality, potency & strength of the tablets : did the user find the need to take a higher dose when using this brand, as compared to Mercury Pharma, Actavis etc? Many thanks in advance.

Experiences with Uni-Pharma T4 Levothyroxine ?
I really couldnt say, I have been under prescribed for 20 years. It will be interesting to read posts from the others. I'm on 150 now.
1st time user of T3 Uni Pharma and found to be excellent with some symptoms disappearing within the first week. Into 2nd month now and all appears good.
T3 that is, I'm on 150 thyroxine. I feel rubbish. Spend 18/24 hrs in bed. Family all think I'm lazy.
It is advisable to find medication you are happy with and then request that brand on prescription different brands can have different fillers so a change of fillers. Ould upset things but different brands and different strengths within brands can differ differ slightly and if you take a lot of medication is more noticeable. Around 1990 I was being given three months supply at a time and offer a different brand from the previous there months. I told the pharmacist and she was t sure why but we decided to stick to the one brand, then Goldshidld but after several take overs now Mercury Pharma. Then I read an article In America saying to stick to one brand as potency can be very different. Each company make up a tablet within a tolerance of plus or muinus ten so quite high so if one firm was the maximum plus to the next being the maximum minus then that was a huge different and certainly e planned my varying symptoms
In 2009 the variant was changed to plus or minus 5 so I expect the British standards are pretty similar
Then I decided that I should stop having all my medication in 25's and get a mixture of 100 and 25's that didn't work for me!!! So much for trying to save the NHS money! I found that 1x 100 was not the same as 4x 25 in the same brand! So ack to 25's again till I decided to switch back to NDT again which I had been started on in the 1980's and felt more incident with
Hi amesthyst1969,
I take 50mcg Mercury Pharma Levo and as my gp surgery wouldn't increase my dose I bought some Uni Pharma T4 last year to top up with, I've not had any problems with it and on my last Blue Horizon blood test my T4 had rose on it so think it's potent etc.
I don't know what it's like in place of uk Levo as I take both.
Hope that helps a bit!
Victoria.
I use both T3 and T4 from Uni Pharma now. T4 for me is completely the same as Actavis (I never tried Mercury Pharma though), so I am satisfied with it.
Thanks to all for the helpful replies, much appreciated x
