Is anyone else being told by their pharmacy that they cannot obtain Mercury Pharma levo? Last month I managed to get 100mg Mercury Pharma but was given Wockhart 25mg. That seemed ok, but this month I cannot even get Wockhart and have been offered Teva, which is totally unsuitable for me when I had it once before.
I have been told to return tomorrow and they will have a make beginning with an A, something I have never heard of. I am starting to worry as I have never had this problem before. Does anyone know what is happening?

It may be Activis which is going to be offered but changing hormones to another might cause problems if they were doing o.k. on the one that it out of stock. You may be o.k. or even feel better but if it is changed and you do feel o.k. make sure the chemist has some in stock for you as chopping/changing might affect us badly.
Occasionally we have had shortages of different makes of levothyroxine or liothryonine. Not good for the patients.
Thanks, Shaws. I agree differentmeds affect us in different ways. Mercury Pharma has always been good for me once I hit the right dose. I dread blood tests because my TSH is as it should be and the GP always thinks it is too low, but has been open to argument in the past. I have had to change GP’s lately (after 40 years my old practice decided I lived too far away from them to stay!!!) so I don’t know how amenable the new ones will be, but it is only since I changed that I have had this supply problem. May be a coincidence.
Hi Chriskisby. I don't know what country you live in and this may not have any significance for you. However since drugs are often supplied globally here is what I learned when the US was suffering through the Orange Toddler's government shutdown earlier this year.
I had problems getting not only my favorite brands but also some meds (T3-liothyronine) especially.
The pharmacist shared that quite a few drug companies were not manufacturing new pills during the shutdown but were dipping into supplies already available.
If this is the case it may take awhile for inventories to reach former numbers.
Make sure you get given a paper copy of your prescription in future. Then phone around different pharmacies in your area, specify what you want prescribed, what make, what dose, and how many. If you need two different dosages then make this clear. Ask if the pharmacist can supply it.
It is important when phoning pharmacies that you try different chains, rather than, say, three different branches of Boots. Independent pharmacists are often able to get drugs that bigger pharmacists can't.
I was worried about my last prescription for Naproxen (a painkiller). I had read online that it was in short supply. I called up various pharmacies local to me who all assured me that I had absolutely no chance of getting it at all, from anywhere, because of Brexit, naturally.
Then I phoned up an independent pharmacy in the middle of a housing estate some distance from me. They said they had what I wanted in stock, no drama at all, and so I got my prescription.
I found my wonderful independent pharmacy in similar situation
Had tried all the large chains, supermarkets etc without success
Found tiny independent pharmacy in middle of housing estate. Pharmacist understood exactly the problem patients get changing brands.....has several patients on Mercury Pharma so always has some
Has also worked hard and successfully to get my Morningside Healthcare T3 at each prescription too
Have you tried different pharmacies in your area? Sometimes I've found that one pharmacy will be out of a brand but others will have it. My partner once had to go to about 4 different pharmacies before she could find one with the exact brand of meds!!! It's worth a try as swapping to another brand could be tough on you.
I am going to do this next time. I will try the new one, but if it dosen’t work I do have a few of my old ones left in case of emergencies such as this, but they won’t last long! Thanks.
