It's more like what foods shouldn't you eat. And the main one is unfermented soy. Do not eat unfermented soy.

Apart from that, eat good clean food, not processed. Plenty of good protein, good fat, fresh fruit and veg, some carbs, not too much fibre, and don't skimp on the salt.

If you have Hashi's, it might be a good idea to go 100% gluten-free.

There are no particular foods that help the thyroid, but you do need optimal nutrients. So, get your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested, And supplement anything that is sub-optimal. But, food cannot replace thyroid hormone. You need to be on thyroid hormone replacement with a TSH that high. :)

Welcome to our forum Udhaya and am sorry you have hypothyroidism.

As greygoose has responded re foods you have to read and learn about hypothyroidism in order to recover your health.

The following contains some hints:-

All blood tests for thyroid hormones should be the very earliest possible (fasting and you can drink water). Also allow 24 hours gap between last dose of levo and the test.

Levo has to be taken on an empty stomach and most do this when they awake and take it with one glass of water. This prevents tablet swelling in throat. Some prefer bedtime dosing and if you've had a big meal containing protein you should allow about 3 hours after eating so stomach is empty.

Always from now on get a print-out of your results from the surgery (some charge a nominal sum for paper/ink). Make sure the ranges are also stated in the print-out as labs differ and therefore ranges may be different and members need the ranges in order to respond.

Ask GP to test B 12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate and thyroid antibodies. We are usually deficient in minerals and hormones and antibodies would mean you had an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease called Hashimoto's.
