I'm new to this site and am finding it a godsend already! Having read Dr Peatfield's book and others I have clearly been hypo since pregnancy no 2 in 2003 but got much much worse in the last 3 yrs. GP useless as blood tests "normal". Referred to metabolic specialist who doesn't have any answers either. Still waiting for endo referral to come though. All Aberdeen.
Started on Nature Throid a couple of weeks ago but no improvement yet. Would prefer this was done with medical supervision somlooking for recommendations. None in Aberdeen I'm aware of so will have to travel. Either elsewhere in Scotland or London. As this will involve major time & expense compared with just popping along to local I really want to make the right choice. Preferably a Dr who will treat regardless of blood test results and routinely prescribe NDT.
Having lurked on this site for a while now I have absolute faith that you'll point me in the right direction!

I should think all endocrinologists will be guided by blood levels and will want FT4 and FT3 within range. However 'normal' is a broad range and most patients will have optimal results when FT4 is in the upper quadrant and FT3 in the upper third of range.
Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of member recommended endos.
When we first start on NDT if we've already been on levo, we just switch straight over to an equivalent dose of NDT and then increase every two weeks by a small dose, either 1/4 or 1/2 until symptoms are relieved. If pulse goes too fast or temp to high drop back to previous dose and that should be your optimum.
If you email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk who has a list of Endos but am not sure of areas.
