Life on T3 is better

Hi,

First thing, I want to say a big thank you to everyone on this site. I have learned so much from you all. The way you help people and share your knowledge is admirable.

I only joined this site very recently. I have only had thyroid issues for about 3 years, so a newbie.

Anyway, short version of my journey. Went to Dr with no symptoms apart from not being able to lose weight. Blood test result came back and Dr prescribed Levothyroxine. I immediately piled on a stone in weight, heart-breaking as this is what I'd gone to the Dr for in the first place. Kept complaining to the Dr about my weight and was brushed off every time. I also got about 15 really bad symptoms including the horrendous brain fog, I had none of this when I was ignorant of my condition, I would have been better off with no treatment.

Did my own research and decided I wanted to try NDT. Told my Dr, totally refused. Therefore, I got my own. I was taking 3 Thyroid S tablets. Immediately ALL the bad symptoms vanished and I could lose a bit of weight if I tried really hard.

Anyway, I found this site and read a lot about what people were saying about needing T3. I thought that if the bit of T3 in the NDT helped me a lot, maybe some actual T3 would be even better. A lovely person on this site responded and I have only been on T3 for over a week but already I have had no symptoms and have lost 4lbs without having to try. All along I knew that I shouldn't be this weight for the small amount I eat but the Dr didn't want to know. I take 2 of my thyroid S and 25mcg of T3.

My question is, has anyone in the UK who has done well on their own acquired T3 then gone on to have it prescribed by the NHS when they've proved it works for them?

Also, I keep accepting the Levo as I feel I have to hide what I am doing from Dr's. I feel like if I don't pretend I take it, I'll get my free prescriptions stopped which I don't want to happen now that I'm having to pay for my thyroid treatment.

Thanks again.

My doctors prescribed T3 but have removed it due to the guidelines which state that no more T3 is to prescribed as levothyroxine alone is adequate! Little do these 'experts' know.

The cost, I believe, has risen by 6,000% and Lord Hunt has taken up the case throught TUK and other thyroid organisations. We hope something will be able to be sorted out.

The price is ridiculous. I can't believe they cannot source it at a better price. Let's hope something comes of this.

I am so sorry you have to lie to your doctor because of the System

Thank you. It's a sad situation.

How easy is it to change doctors? with everything I learned through my cancer journey, I will not put up with that crap and keep changing doctors till I find one willing to work with me. Also ask the questions: why won't you give me this (or that), why won't you test me for this or that

Doctors are (now) the bane of my existence on this planet. They (really) have no excuse to behave this way other than that they can (& do, while they pat each other on the back) because they all "force" one another to "think" alike when not one of them is really even "thinking."

I was never a "team sport" kind of guy as I found too much of this same phony camaraderie, when everyone, basically, only wanted: "to win," and at any and all costs. It has always been noted (by me, anyway) that a man who can hit a baseball over "the wall" is far more praised that one who discovers penicillin or "the theory of relativity." Ask any kid, if you don't believe me, who discovered those life-saving or revolutionary facts and they probably don't know but they damn sure know who hit the most home runs in the major leagues last year.

As far as the lying goes: No one, no matter who he is, no human being, has any right to put another human being under such a difficulty that he has to either hurt that person by telling the truth, or hurt himself by telling a lie and anyone who behaves as they doctors do should be forbidden from practicing (whatever it is they call it they are "practicing.") May peace be on you.

Don't worry you'll be alright soon and always remember in the mountains of truth you never climb in vain.

No problem. Everyone on this site should realize that the best connection we can make with our fellow human beings is to let there be truth between us all; forevermore.
