I finally got a copy of my blood test results that were taken in April. I have decided not to follow the Doctors direction to start Eltroxin and I'm currently on 2 grains of WP Thyroid (4th Week on NDT). Going well so far however haven't found the optimum dosage of NDT as of yet.
I am also taking B12 (Methylcobalamin) 5000mcg and Selenium 200mcg daily. Just wondering if I should also be taking Folate & Ferritin? Or any other supplements? I have another blood test booked for the 3rd week in July.
TIA,

vickser Most definitely you need to do something about your folate and ferritin. As you're already taking methylcobalamin, take a B Complex to balance the B Vits. Thorne Basic B is a good one and contains 400mcg folate so that will help with the low folate level. Leafy green veggies help folate levels too.
Ferritin needs to be at least 70, preferably 100-130. If constipation is not a problem then you could try Ferrous Fumarate but if you find that upsets your stomach then an Iron Bisglycinate supplement like Solgar Gentle Iron is non-constipating. Take with 1000mg Vit C to aid absorption and help prevent constipation. Take iron supplements 4 hours away from thyroid meds.
As your TPO antibodies confirm autoimmune thyroiditis aka Hashimoto's, you should go gluten free as many people find this helps reduce the antibody attacks, as does supplementing with selenium.
