Hi im new here and looking for some advice. I had RAISED 7 weeks ago so had to come of my carbimazole 8 weeks ago because that stops your thyroid from absorbing the iodine. About a week after I came off it i got all my symptoms back fatigue, excessive sweating, hair coming out etc. I seen my endocrine doctor today and he says he isn't gonna put is back on my thyroid meds because my gp done the wrong bloods they checked my TSH which was fine so he doesn't think it's my thyroid causing the symptoms he got my bloods taken again today this time the T3 and T4 then I go back in 7 weeks will these bloods automatically come back fine too, or can it still be thyroid causing the symptoms like im sure it is. TIA xx

Sorry that is meant to say RAI not raised
Have you got your TSH result? The range for TSH is so wide that people can feel really ill but still be in range. It's good that your endo is testing your T4 and T3. This will give you a much better idea of what your thyroid is actually producing.
What is your pulse rate like? If it is fast then it sounds as though the RAI hasn't done a good enough job. This would be unusual.
If it is quite slow then it means the RAI has probably stopped your thyroid producing enough hormone and you are now hypothyroid (this is much more common). The good news is that you can usually take some Levothyroxine to top up what your thyroid is producing.
When you see your endocrinologist get a copy of your results (you are entitled to a copy for your records). Also try and get either your endo or your GP to test your Vitamin B12, Vitamin D and Ferritin levels. Having thyroid problems very often leaves people very short of these nutrients, which need to be at healthy levels, not just at the bottom of the range.
I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your reply. My tsh levels from my blood taken on Monday was 1.93
My pulse rate is over 100 resting which I know is high but my gp see store. Have come to the decision thats normal now for me.
I will thank you gonna go to my gp on tuesday and will speak to her about getting all these done.
Im just frustrated because I refuse to go back to the way I was before in the house all the time because I was so tired etc.
But I really appreciate your help and advice xx
With a TSH of 1.93 the RAI has done its job. You may well be on the way to becoming hypothyroid. Look at the hypothyroid symptoms list (there's one on this website somewhere). Post your T3 and T4 results when they come and someone will advise.
You need to always get your thyroid blood tests done first thing in the morning, particularly when the GP does them, because the TSH, which your doctor will go by, varies during the day. It is highest in the early hours, so having the blood test done at 8.30am (or whenever your surgery opens) means you will get better treatment for hypothyroidism.
