So, if you order a Thyroid Check PLUS 6, 10 or 11 as a microtainer, ask in the comments if you can trial a Picotainer® kit. We'll send you...

The Microtainer kit that you order (fingerprick)

The new Picotainer kit to trial (requires just 3 drops of blood) and goes back to the lab in the same envelope.

And we'll issue you with a refund of £20 on your order to say thank you.

The only condition is that you must have ordered a blood test kit from us before. As soon as we have data from further phases of the trial we'll release it to the Thyroid UK community.

You'll get your microtainer results as usual.

Would this be OK for someone who normally can't get anywhere near enough blood for the microtainer because it clots too quickly? Mine clots in the little funnel before it has chance to get down into the microtainer, and I really want to re-test but can't get blood drawn anywhere at the moment.

Hi Seasidesusie,

It is designed so that we need less blood, but for the purposes of the proof of concept we need to compare one set of results with the other.

So maybe this would be ideal for you, but we'll have to wait to see if it is reliable and is therefore made available generally.

Hi how long is the offer for? And can you do this if you have had a full blood draw before using your tubes... I did this when I had a blood test at the hospital so this would be good if I have to retest soon doing it myself next time... Thanks Jo

Good question Scorpiojo, we are initially trialling just 12 kits to set initial ranges etc.

If your friendly phlebotomist can provide 3 drops into our picotainer then a traditional vacutainer blood draw test would be applicable for the offer too.

I will need to retest soon after having the 11 plus done and you thankfully finding deficiencies I'm having jabs of b12 so will need to retest

.. So even if too late in a few weeks to take this offer up, it's nice you are trying other things 😊👍

Hi, I've just had thyroid plus 12 I think the one including reverse t3, I've also got a comprehensive plus to have, can I do this too? Sorry I didn't really understand what the conditions were.

Who yes already had the test results back now but I have purchased the comprehensive plus and I haven't had that yet. Can you send me the picotainer so I can do it when I have that test please ?

We've had a few results back now, and they look promising. Specifically now, we're looking for patients with high levels of thyroid antibodies.

This may well mean 3 drop analysis so we're very hopeful that this proof of concept trial works.
