OK, so I have been reading some posts lately that I find slightly worrying: that Thai NDT is not working the way it used to.
There have been problems with almost every renowned brand, such as Armour, Naturethroid, Erfa...confirmed or suspected reformulations, change of production site followed by complaints, etc.
But Thai NDT has been getting consistently good reviews, at least as far as I am aware...some prefer Thyroid-S, others Thiroyd, some seem to like TR Man best, but that's normal. But now, all of a sudden, I see many posts on how ineffective and weak Thai NDT is.
This worries me, as I have been seriously considering switching to Thai NDT as neither of the brands currently available where I live (Armour, Erfa) seems to work any more, and even brands such as Naturethroid and WP thyroid seem to be getting mixed reviews at best...for each person happy with either brand, someone else is unhappy. Plus, they are all expensive compared to Thai NDT.
So, those of you on any brand of Thai NDT, or those of you who have previously tried it...what is your opinion? Is it working? Is it as good as "old" Armour and Erfa, etc?
Any input appreciated, as I am trying to figure out how to take it from here.
I currently take Thyroid-S. I took Armour until it reformulated in 2009, then Naturethroid for a short time, then ERFA which I thought the best of them until they moved production two years ago and I got a really bad batch - not just ineffective but made me ill within half an hour of taking it. I realise it may have been a one-off problem but I can no longer trust them.
I think Thyroid-S is ok, not as good as ERFA used to be and I don't like so many fillers in it so have some WP to try out one day. But I've also recently read several comments on two Facebook thyroid groups and on the Ray Peat forum that Thyroid-S wasn't as good as it used to be. Some of the people mentioned the batch I am currently taking. I think it's fine but I've noticed that my blood test results are the same as they were when I took a higher dose of ERFA, so to me they're a bit stronger. I wonder if, because there are so many fillers in Thyroid-S, there's likely to be more difference in ratio of ingredients from batch to batch.
The reason I chose to try Thai NDTs when ERFA changed is that they were cheap and easy to get. At least I wouldn't waste as much money as I did on the year's supply of ERFA if they didn't work! It would be good if we could all swap some of whatever we have for each other try out so no-one wastes a lot of money - but it's probably illegal to do that...
Ah..... I havent seen any of these posts, but i have been wondering about whether my current tiredness might be connected to my thyroid. Have been on thiroyd for several years..... Can you give me any links to the posts please....
I haven't seen any of the posts on Thai NDT either recently but I've been on Thiroyd since September last year, having not been on thyroid medication previously. I'm now on 2.5 grains and my TSH has gone from 2.48 to 0.04 and FT3 has gone from 3.85 to 5.53 so I'm happy that it's working just fine for what it's worth
Gawd, someone put a rocket behind him...... .. He tried thyroid S, didnt like the second bottle so he bought some Thiroyd and likes that better..... Only it took 5 minutes of waffle to get there.....
Here is probably the reason he didnt get on with thyroid S.... You have to read it all the way to the bottom '. to get it...' thyroid-s.com/natural-desic...
I am really tired and my patience is short atm...... Trying to work out why.....
Now this is very interesting! I don't convert Levo, or if I am strictly accurate, I hardly convert it. But I don't seem to have any problem converting the T4 in NDT. I always wondered how I managed in the days when I produced my own hormones.
Despite everything the chemists imagine it is patently clear that bio identical synthetic is not the same as the real thing. In addition to the carrier compounds there are also the co factors. To me it seems self evident.
Still on Armour and finding it OK. All NDT is tested by the Americans and if its flawed its recalled. I have to say that although levo has been recalled several times for not working properly NDT has not.
I have been trying to find a European supplier of Thiroyd (I know that's usually a more expensive alternative but I'd hate to have shipment confiscated by customs). There is a European supplier of Thyroid-S who only supplies that brand. This is the only supplier of Thai NDT in Europe that I know of. I guess nobody knows of any European supplier of Thiroyd and would be willing to PM me the info...?
OK, thank you so much, Kitten1978! Yes, I like it, too, I am just a bit wary about all the fillers...but most reviews definitely seem positive. Thanks again for your input
