T3 from USA??

Hi, I've tried T4 only & no improvements, then tried NDT (naturethroid) & can only tolerate 0.5 grain twice a day. Any more & I get palpitations & a wired feeling. Do you think it's worth trying T3 only?

My bloods showed lowish T3 (3.6 - 4) & slightly elevated TSH (between 3.6 - 4.6). 24hr thyroid urine test showed v v low T3 (300 - bottom quarter of the red).

My friend is in LA with work & has offered to bring some home if it's available there. She's only there for a few days though do I need to be swift. Can anyone help me with details of if it is available in USA & where I can get it from please?

Also, do you think it's worth trying? I've tried twice now to increase the ndt & keep it up, but it makes me feel awful I end up bringing it back down & feel some relief from the wired feeling in a few days. My body temp, sleep & dry skin have improved a bit on ndt, but my brain fog, concentration & memory probs haven't :-(

I'm also on nutri adrenal extra (x3) & take b12, betaine, a multi vit, zinc & fish oil.

You might be undermedicated with T 4. My sis has hashis and was very happy with her T 4 meds until I convinced her to try NDT (this was some years ago) after my happy conversion from T 4 to NDT. Like you, she had heart palps and felt horrible on the NDT. She went back on T 4 and never looked back. That was fifteen yrs ago and she still is doing great with synthroid.

It is difficult, if not impossible, to stabilize thyroid meds if our iron, B 12 and D 3 aren't optimal. Have you had those checked? Also, if adrenals are stressed (cortisol), the NDT and T 3 can often make things worse.

T 3 is available in the US by prescription only.

Scorchio, you are undermedicated to have TSH >3.0. You could try adding some T3 to T4 to see whether that relieves symptoms and if not, try T3 only. Most people will feel well with TSH around 1.0 or lower with FT3 in the top third of range.

when I started nature throid I reacted too and had to do it gradually...after 3months, now have no body aches or heart throbs like when starting so it does take time for some people s bodies to adjust to getting t3t4 or that t3.......I started out on same dose and now can take a grain am and 4 hours laterwith no problems......you have to have a prescription for everything in usa.....
