Suppliments - mix up of symptoms.

Hi guys, I have been taking supplements to try and get myself feeling a bit better. I'm taking B12 and a B Complex, then Vit C and Iron and then Vit K and Vit D. I wasn't sure hoe much they were helping until I stopped for the last couple of days and wow...I feel so much worse and certain symptoms are creeping back in.

The trouble I have is, that they seem to alleviate certain symptoms but noticing other ones are worse. My breathing is terrible and my bladder is terrible too. Has anyone else noticed certain symptoms get worse whilst others get better? Or am I just a strange one? (Well I know the answer to that already)

Am I going to be left with a choice of which symptoms I'd rather deal with?

Thanks

Merry Christmas ☺️

Ying-yang3, unless your breathing and bladder problems began when you started supplementing they may be completely unrelated and you should see your GP. If they began when you started supplementing it's likely that a filler in one or more of the supplements is causing the problems. You'll need to stop the supplements for a couple of weeks, see whether symptoms improve, and reintroduce one supplement at a time to see which is causing problems.

Thanks clutter for your quick reply,

I've had breathing a bladder problems on and off for years, perhaps I should just go back the doctor and say (hate going tho, always feels pointless)

I havent taken for the last couple of days and can feel certain symptoms just creeping back in 😕 the idea of stopping them and going back downhill scares me but needs must I guess.

Thanks for your help

Ying-Yang3, if the breathing and bladder problems preceded supplements they can't be responsible so there's no need to stop supplementing.

Yeah I've had them on and off for years, but they've just come back on and are worse than I would normally get so thought they might be making it worse.

Thanks

I agree with Clutter, as low cost/grade supplements usually contain a lot of other ingredients. Always look for supplements with the least amount of other ingredients, and always remember that you get what you pay for. I always try to purchase single ingredient supplements. Also, some supplements do not mix well with others, and some need to be taken with water, while others with fat. It is very important to take them in this fashion.

You can do a simple google search on "what supplement do not mix" and "how to take supplements". I found this info very helpful.

Hey there, thanks for you reply

Perhaps it is something to do with how I'm taking them or the particular ones I've chosen (argh it's a minefield and not easy)

I normally just take them all after my breakfast in the morning and think no more about it..

Google here I come thanks for the suggestion ☺️

If you are taking B12 in the form of methylcobalamin, there are circumstances in which you can get start-up symptoms, and that is if your methylation cycle isn't working well.

The whole idea of methylation, how it works, how it can go wrong, how it can be fixed etc is a completely closed book to me. I do know that when I started taking activated forms of B vitamins such as methylcobalamin I got some unpleasant detox reactions - bad headaches, mouth ulcers, acne, and eczema. They disappeared eventually, and I started to feel better than I did before supplementing, so it was worth it.

I don't know whether methylation problems are causing any of your symptoms - it is just a suggestion. If methylation issues are a cause then they may well go away on their own eventually. It took 2 - 3 months for me.

Hey humanbean, thanks for the info.

I haven't read it properly yet (will do later) but have a quick scan over. That could actually make sense...perhaps I'm better sticking to it and seeing if I improve a bit further over time. I have had some good improvement since I've started on a lot of any symptoms. The pain feels less, the tinnitus has eased, my hair loss is calming down.

I have also cut down on coffee and increased my water intake to try and shift this feeling.

Maybe I'll just stick with and see how I go if it took you a few months ☺️ X
