Medication messed up

Hi,

I need some help please?

I've got into a bit of a mess taking my medication all together, mainly due to severe depression:

I saw Dr Peatfield (Dr P) a few yrs ago. I was diagnosed with quite Low Adrenal problems as well as Underactive Thyroid.

**** I am going through an horrendous menopause (been taking Bio- identical hormones - which are all natural made with Yam - I pay £110.00 for 2 months supply). plus other factors: Mum died, daughter left home to live with boyfriend, and my Vitiligo has spread from 5% to 80%,

**** The problem is: I'm taking NDT (4 x grains), - yet my TSH is 3.8 too high : from Dr P. , taking Vit C 2000mg, Vit B complex a good make= Metabolic ( with 800 mcg folate) Omega 3, Q10, : And importantly I have just started Adrenavive 11 a few days ago.

** I am taking all this medicine together: about lunch time when I get out of bed: Too depressed to get out of bed any earlier....I do nothing during the day.

*** I am do desperately depressed. And, always poorly- viruses, colds: so tired all the time.

*** What I am trying to say is that things are too much at the moment and out of hand, and I know that I need to take medication at different intervals, and I need to address certain illnesses (which I've mentioned) and access them.

*** But I feel so I'll, physically, mentally and emotionally. It's such am enormous task, at the moment to even think about doing something about it;

*** I am about 4 stone overweight and at the moment not eating a healthy diet.

I know this is quite a complex message, and I apologize. But I need help desperately.

Try not to worry and I know that's easier said than done.

Sometimes we get so worked up - especially having family problems too - as you have at the moment. We need less stressful situations.

You're fortunate to have consulted with Dr Peatfield (I have too) and he was a wonderful doctor, pursued by the 'authorities' as he wasn't 'toeing the line' even though he was thoroughly knowledgeable and sympathetic to the suffering of patients.

4 grains of NDT is quite high - equal to around 400 of levothyroxine (approx).

One of Thyroiduk's Advisers always advised one daily dose so that the T3 receptor cells were saturated. I realise that some prefer to split their dose but it's not suitable for me.

Do you take your thyroid hormones at the earliest (when you wake up) with one full glass of water. Wait an hour before eating?

Has your doctor checked B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.

Do you allow a gap of 24 hours between the last dose of hormones and the test and take them afterwards?

Are you currently taking NDT all in one go.....or splitting dose?

Essential to stop taking any supplements that contain biotin (eg vitamin B complex ) ....a week before ALL BLOOD TESTS

Do you have Hashimoto’s?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.

Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

If/when also on NDT make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

List of private testing options

Medichecks Thyroid plus vitamins including folate (private blood draw required)

Thriva Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins By DIY fingerpick test

Thriva also offer just vitamin testing

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins by DIY fingerprick test

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off if go on thyroid uk for code

I know it's hard when you feel so awful but take your ndt separately with nothing but a glass of water.

What NDT are you taking and how long on 4 grains?

Have you had free t4 and free t3 tested with TSH, it would be very helpful to get them done if you haven't.

And ((hugs))
