hypothyroid ndt dose increase

started with 1 grain of ndt after about 4 months or so i am up to 2.5 grains ndt. i feel much better than i did at 1 grain but not 100 percent. my question is why on every dose increase i immediately feel better then i feel hyper then i slowly dip back into hypo as the month goes on?! its like as soon as i think the old me is back the old symptoms always creep back. my labs are slightly over range but that was tested on the peak. im going to test not taking morning dose in a few weeks to see where im at

It's a perfectly normal response. It just means that you're not on your optimal dose, yet.

If you test too soon after taking your dose of hormone, all you are going to test is the dose you've just taken, not the normally circulating level. You should leave 24 hours between the last dose of T4 and the blood draw, and 8 - 12 hours for T3 and NDT. :)

thanks greygoose. why is there thought differences some people say wait 24 hours to test and some say wait 8-12

It depends on what you are taking. Read greygoose's response again. If you are taking NDT - which contains T3 - then it is 8-12 hrs.

sorry i meant when taking ndt.. some people say to wait 24 hours. which seem like a long time since it would mostly be out of your system

When taking NDT because it has T3 in it 8-12 hours is correct. It is only 24 hours if taking Levo T4 only. Grey Goose was right.
