Hi all, been a while since I posted in here. Hope everyone is as well as can be.
I had blood tests done about three weeks ago and yesterday I got the results. It's kinda slow out in the country here, lol. Most came back good, which I'm happy with. However, my iron levels were low enough that the GP has given me three months supply of iron pills. But yet again my TSH has been noted and put into watch status. It wasn't very high at 7.2 but still out of range (0.45 - 4.25). I have to wait now until November before another blood test is carried out, although the GP stated they will also check for antibodies, which is a first.
My TSH has been yoyo-ing for years. Yet it's being 'left to observation' again! My health isn't great at the best of times. But to have it left again is driving me potty.
Any thoughts? Should I leave it until November now or should I ask for them to review/refer etc?

You should have your results reviewed immediately as a TSH of 7.2 is much too high. Not only will this make you feel unwell but will encourage possible oesteoporosis, atriel fibrillation, gut issues, hair loss.....the list is endless and you should not have been left like this,
Ask for a thyroid meds increase as you feel so unwell. After six weeks your doctor should retest your thyroid hormones and depending on the results, make necessary adjustments. Ask him to include thyroid antibodies TPOAb and TGAb.
You will feel so much better with more thyroid hormone in you.
If you post ALL results next time complete with ranges (numbers in brackets), members will comment.
Thanks Flower. I'm not on any meds for thyroid presently, but I am on a whole host of others. These range from acid reflux to asthma, strong pk's for fibro, muscle relaxants for twitching and lung meds for a chronic lung condition. Maybe they just don't want to add more to the list? 😕
I agree that it's too high but for some reason, maybe because it yoyos all the time, they feel medication isn't the answer? Not yet anyway!
I will speak to GP and ask why I have to be left so long again.
Btw, I didn't post all results as I didn't get a copy. I just happened to read it on her screen whilst in the office!
Thanks spongecat and flower, it is frustrating after all this time to still be made to wait. I feel like I have enough problems as it is already. A few years ago when I questioned this repeatedly I was still ignored and then told my TSH was in mid range when my records show it was not!
I've changed GP surgery since then so this bout of thyroid checking is new to this place. It's quite possible the new GP just doesn't realise it's all happened before.
When I next see her I'll take my copy of the records in so she can see for herself the previous results. Maybe then she will act earlier. *sigh*
I would ask to be referred at this point to an Endo - they SHOULD know more about thyroid then your doctor as it's their area, why they are waiting is beyond me!
